User role permissions

User role permissions control what users assigned to a user role can see and do in your network. Filter the list of permissions, below, to learn how each permission affects users.

Keep in mind
  • Some permissions listed here are related to product features that might not be available in your network.
  • Some permissions are dependent on other permissions. A warning to indicate the dependent permissions is displayed in the interface. All warnings must be resolved before you can save your changes.
User role permissionDescription
Edit the priority and delivery rate for line items Edit the High, Normal, Low priority options for Standard line items.

Some networks can edit the numeric priority value for any line item type. This permission enables that functionality for a user, as well.

View creativesView the settings of any creative, either in a line item or in the "Creatives" section of Delivery.
Edit creativesEdit the settings of any creative, but not activate or deactivate the creative.
Enable and disable creativesActivate or deactivate creatives associated with a line item, but not edit any of the creative's settings.
Pause, unpause, archive, and unarchive orders and line itemsPause, resume, archive or unarchive orders or line items, but not edit any order or line item settings.
Approve and reject orders and line itemsApprove or reject orders or line items, but not edit any of the order or line item settings. Learn more
Run availability forecastsRun inventory availability forecasts, either from the "Orders" section of Delivery or an individual line item. Note that, even without this permission, DFP runs a forecast each time a line item is saved and will enforce overbooking permissions.
Overbook standard line itemsOverbook line items of the Standard line item type.
Overbook sponsorship line itemsOverbook, or overweight, line items of the Sponsorship line item type.
View ad units, placements, and key-valuesView ad units, placements, and key-values in line item targeting or creative-level targeting and in Inventory, if access to the Inventory section is also granted.
Edit ad units, placements, and key-valuesEdit ad units, placements, and key-values in Inventory, if access to the Inventory section is also granted. Line item or creative-level targeting for these objects can be edited even without this permission, as long as the user has permission to edit line items and/or creatives.
View all orders and line itemsView any order or line item.

If your network uses Teams, this permission is managed through Team associations and the "View my orders and line items" permission.

View my orders and line itemsView orders and line items you've created or to which you're assigned as salesperson or trafficker.

If your network uses Teams, you must associate an order with a Team before users can access the order. The "View my orders and line items" permission grants a user access to orders to which they are assigned or associated by Team.

Edit orders and line items, and submit for approvalEdit order and line item settings for new or unapproved orders, and submit new orders for approval.
Edit approved orders and line itemsEdit order and line item settings after an order has been approved.
Activate line itemsActivate line items, for networks that have disabled the "Automatic line item activation" network setting.
Edit creative templatesEdit the settings for creative templates in the "Creatives" section of Delivery. Creative templates can still be used to traffic creatives without this permission. 
View forecast adjustmentsView the settings for all forecast adjustments in Inventory. Forecast adjustments still apply to every line item forecast, even for users without this permission enabled.
Edit forecast adjustmentsEdit the settings for any forecast adjustment in Inventory.
View audience segmentsView the settings for all audience segments in Inventory. Audience segments are still available for line item targeting, even without this permission enabled.
Edit audience segmentsEdit the settings for any audience segment in Inventory.
View activity groups and activitiesView the settings for all activity groups and activities in Admin. Activity groups and activities still appear in reporting, even without this permission enabled.
Edit activity groups and activitiesEdit the settings for any activity group or activity in Admin.
View third party audience segment approvalsView the list of all pending third-party audience segment approvals, in the "Audience" section of Inventory.
Edit third party audience segment approvalsEdit the approval status for any third-party audience segment, in the "Audience" section of Inventory.
Edit external advertiser accountEnables the "Link accounts" button for sharing audience segments with Ad Exchange or Bid Manager.
View line item defaultsView line item default settings in the "Delivery" section of Admin.
Edit line item defaultsEdit line item default settings in the "Delivery" section of Admin.
Receive all malware and policy violation notificationsReceive malvertising alert and policy violation emails.
View ad exclusion rulesView all DFP ad exclusion rules in the "Exclusions" section of Inventory.
Create and edit ad exclusion rulesCreate new DFP ad exclusion rules, or edit existing rules, in the "Exclusions" section of Inventory.
Edit key-values valuesEdit the list of values for any predefined key-value in the "Key-values" section of Inventory.
View AdX experimentsView all Ad Exchange experiments in the "Ad Exchange rules" section of Inventory.
Edit AdX experimentsEdit any Ad Exchange experiment in the "Ad Exchange rules" section of Inventory.
View mediation groupsView the settings for all yield groups (formerly, "mediation groups") in Delivery. Yield groups are used for mediation and Exchange Bidding.
Edit mediation groupsEdit the settings for any yield group (formerly, "mediation group") in Delivery. Yield groups are used for mediation and Exchange Bidding.
View users, roles, and teamsView all users, user roles and teams in trafficking lists and in the "Access & authorization" section of Admin.

This permission is required for many features and should be enabled for every user.

Edit users, roles, and teamsCreate new, or edit existing, users, user roles and teams in the "Access & authorization" section of Admin.
View companies and contactsView all companies and contacts in trafficking lists and in Admin.

This permission is required for many features and should be enabled for every user.

Edit companiesCreate new companies or edit any existing company in the "Companies" section of Admin, including a company's "Credit status" setting.
Edit contactsCreate new contacts or edit any existing contact in the "Access & authorization" section of Admin.
Invite contactsInvite new advertiser contacts in the "Access & authorization" section of Admin to view their orders in your network.
Edit company credit statusEdit only the "Company credit status" setting of any company in the "Companies" section of Admin.
Impersonate users (read-only)Impersonate any user, but without the ability to edit any objects (read-only access) while impersonating a user.
Impersonate users (read/write)Impersonate any user with the ability to edit any objects (read and write access) while impersonating a user.
View change historyView the network-wide "Change history" section in Admin. History for each object can still be viewed without this permission.
Edit labelsCreate new labels or edit existing labels in the "Inventory" section of Admin.
Edit custom fieldsCreate new custom fields or edit existing custom fields in the "Global settings" section of Admin.
View exchange ratesView network exchange rates in the "Global settings" section of Admin.
Edit exchange ratesAdd new currencies and edit network exchange rate settings in the "Global settings" section of Admin.
Create and view reports Create reports or queries and view those you've created or that have been shared with you.

This permission also enables access to the DFP Dashboard.

View dynamic allocation opportunity reportUse the Dynamic allocation opportunity metrics in Historical and Business Intelligence reports.
View, edit, and delete any report on the networkView any report or query generated by users in your network, regardless of whether the report or query has been shared with you.
Create and view Ad Exchange reportsCreate "Ad Exchange historical" reports. Learn more about Ad Exchange in DoubleClick for Publishers 
Delivery

Access to DFP tabs

Display the Delivery section in product navigation.

This permission only displays the Delivery section (previously displayed as a "tab" in the UI). Features within this section are separately protected by other permissions. If a user has access to a feature in this section, they also need permission to display the section itself.

For example, if a user has permission to view line items, they also need permission to display Delivery, since line item editing is found in the Delivery section.

Inventory

This permission only displays the Inventory section (previously displayed as a "tab" in the UI). Features within this section are separately protected by other permissions. If a user has access to a feature in this section, they also need permission to display the section itself.

For example, if a user has permission to view ad units, they also need permission to display Inventory, since ad unit editing is found in the Inventory section.

Admin

Display the Admin section in product navigation.

This permission only displays the Admin section (previously displayed as a "tab" in the UI). Features within this section are separately protected by other permissions. If a user has access to a feature in this section, they also need permission to display the section itself.

For example, if a user has permission to view users, they also need permission to display Admin, since user editing is found in the Admin section.

Billing

Ad Exchange

Display Ad Exchange features in DoubleClick for Publishers. Learn more

This permission displays all Ad Exchange interface features and settings in DoubleClick for Publishers. For example, users can access the "Billing" section in DFP to see Ad Exchange payments information, but will not see DFP billing information unless the specific DFP "Billing" permission is also granted.

Contract signupAccess the Billing section and configure the terms and payment options related to your DFP contract with Google.

Ensure that only users authorized to sign up for contracts are added to custom roles with this permission.
