  1. New consent requirements for traffic in Switzerland

    From 31 July 2024, partners using Google advertising products will be required to obtain Swiss users’ consent to the use of cookies or other local storage where legally required, as well as the collection, sharing and use of personal data for the personalisation of ads. To comply with the updated EU user consent policy, partners using our publisher products will be required to use a certified CMP that integrates with the TCF when serving ads to users in Switzerland, in addition to the EEA and the UK.

  4. New site-level approval process for AdSense for Search (AFS) sites

    Starting 4 March 2024, before you can show ads via AdSense for Search (AFS) on a new site, you'll need to add your site to the Sites page in your AdSense account. Each new site will go through a verification process that checks that you own the domain or have the ability to modify its content. The process will also review your site for compliance with the AdSense programme policies and Google Publisher policies.   5. Google Analytics 4 integration with AdSense

    We're pleased to announce that you can now establish links between Google Analytics 4 (GA4) properties and AdSense accounts.     Starting in November 2023, we will begin to move Search Ads publisher products from using 'google.com' as their 'serving domain' to the new domains listed below.   11. Vignettes in Auto ads now have frequency controls

    As at 23 October 2023, we're changing the way the vignette ads format in Auto ads works to give you more control over how often vignettes are shown to your users. What's changing Vignettes are now displayed when the user leaves a page or comes back to it. After you've turned on vignette ads under Auto ads, you'll be able to change the frequency at which these ads are shown. The default frequency is set to 10 minutes. You can choose your own frequency from one minute to one hour depending on how many vignettes you want to show your users. Learn how to choose the frequency of your vignette ads.

  16. An update on TCF v2.2

    IAB announced v2.2 of IAB TCF on 16 May 2023. Google as a vendor will begin accepting TC strings using the TCF v2.2 from 11 July 2023. Any requests with TCF v2.2 strings sent before this date may result in errors.     Today, we're announcing a new ad format called side rails. Side rails are ads that stick to the sides of your pages when they're viewed on widescreen devices, such as desktops.     We've made some improvements to make it easier to navigate the ad blocking options in AdSense. We've renamed the Blocking controls page to 'Brand safety' and added a new site search. Previously, sites were listed in the main navigation panel, but because many publishers have multiple sites, we've replaced the site list with an easy-to-use site search. This change simplifies the main navigation panel and makes it easier to block ads on different sites.

    AdSense will expand testing of the FLEDGE API and begin rendering ads on a small percentage of traffic globally on or after 24 September 2022.
