Link Google Ads with Google Analytics App + Web or Firebase

The Google Analytics App + Web property is currently in beta. Learn more

This article describes how to link and unlink your Google Ads account with Google Analytics App + Web and Firebase. After you link your Google Ads account with a Google Analytics App + Web property or a Firebase project, you can:

  • Import conversions, conversion event data (for example, parameters), and audiences.
  • See how ad campaigns drive app installs and in-app actions for your Android and iOS apps.
  • Import web remarketing lists and web conversion events (only for a Google Analytics App + Web property).

About unlinking Google Ads and Google Analytics App + Web or Firebase

You can unlink your Google Ads account from Google Analytics App + Web or Firebase at any time. When you unlink:

  • Google Ads and the previously linked properties will stop sharing data.
  • Google Ads will stop importing conversions from previously linked properties, and new users won't be added to connected remarketing lists.
  • You'll still be able to see previously shared data in both Google Ads and Google Analytics App + Web or Firebase.

You can unlink your Google Analytics App + Web property from Google Ads or from Google Analytics. Likewise, you can unlink your Firebase project from Google Ads or from your Firebase account

Keep in mind

If your account is managed by a manager account, you’ll have access to all properties that are linked to the manager account. Any data the manager account imports from Google Analytics App + Web or Firebase will also be available to you. If the manager account unlinks from those properties, your account will also be unlinked.

Before you begin

To link Google Ads to a Google Analytics App + Web property or a Firebase project, use a Google account that has the following permissions:

  • In Google Ads, the Google account needs administrative access.
  • If you’re linking to a Firebase project, your Google account needs to be an owner on the project that you want to link.
  • If you’re linking to a Google Analytics App + Web property, your Google account needs “Edit” permissions in the corresponding Google Analytics account.

These permissions are also required if you need to unlink your Google Ads account.

Note: When you upgrade your Firebase project to a Google Analytics App + Web property, your Firebase links with Google Ads are migrated to your new Google Analytics App + Web property automatically.

Instructions

To link a Google Analytics App + Web property or Firebase project in Google Ads:

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads account.
  2. Click the tools icon in the upper right corner of your account, then select Linked accounts.
  3. Under "Google Firebase,” click Details. If your Google account has “Edit” access to any Google Analytics App + Web properties or is a project owner for any Firebase projects, you'll see them in the table.
  4. Find the Google Analytics App + Web property or Firebase project in the table, and then click Link. If you want to check what apps are associated with a project, click the down arrow to the left of the project name.

Note: Google Analytics App + Web properties appear as Firebase projects in the tables and are represented by their linked Firebase projects. If a Google Analytics App + Web property doesn’t have a linked Firebase project, it won’t appear in the table.

  5. In the link confirmation window that shows next:
    • If you’d like, turn on the option to share your Google Analytics App + Web or Firebase audiences with this Google Ads account.
    • Click Link to finish linking the Firebase project to your Google Ads account.

If your Google Ads account is managed by one or more manager accounts, the “Accounts” column shows which of your manager accounts are linked to a Google Analytics App + Web property or a Firebase project.

  1. If the account is managed by multiple manager accounts (for example, by a sub-manager and a manager account), place your cursor over the data to see which manager accounts are linked to the project.
  2. If a Google Analytics App + Web property or a Firebase project is linked only to your account and not linked to a manager account, you’ll see “This account” in the “Accounts” column.

To unlink a Google Analytics App + Web property or Firebase project in Google Ads:

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads account.
  2. Click the tools icon in the upper right corner of your account, then select Linked accounts.
  3. Under "Google Firebase,” click Details.
  4. Find the project in the table, and then click Unlink.
