The Meet call feature for Business and EDU is part of an extended roll-out and might not be available yet.

Google Duo and Google Meet have combined into a new Meet app for video calling and meetings. The Google Duo app and icon are now Google Meet . Learn how to download the new Meet app.

Available features and encryption methods in the Meet app are different between meetings, Meet calls (Business and EDU only) and Meet Legacy Calls (previously known as Duo). Learn about call and meeting encryption in Meet.

• Meetings: Create or join scheduled or instant cloud-encrypted Google Meet meetings with a link. Learn more about meeting features in the new Meet app.
• Meet calls (available for Business and EDU only): Make cloud-encrypted 1:1 calls on mobile to other people in your organisation by ringing their Workspace account directly to alert them that you're trying to call them. Learn about Meet calls in the new Meet app.

Tips:

• Some domains support CSE encryption for meetings. Learn about client-side encryption (CSE) in Meet.
• Your Google Account name and pronouns are shown to other meeting members. Learn how to change your Google Account info.
• Contacts that you previously blocked in Meet can join Meet meetings and group calls. Learn more about who can join your meetings.

With the upgrade of Duo to Meet, we added Duo legacy calling features to the Meet app. The upgrade is an improved app experience and doesn't require a new download for Duo users. You can still:

• Make 1:1 or group calls to friends and family by phone number or email.
• Use fun filters and effects.
• Send messages.
• Ask Google Assistant to call with your existing devices.
• Turn on Meet moments.
• Use Family Mode.
• Preview video calls with Knock Knock.

Tips:

• Meet Legacy Calls, previously known as Duo, doesn't include the latest meetings and Meet calls features.
• For Business and EDU users:
  • Your admin controls legacy calling functionality through the legacy services switch. Learn how to manage legacy calling features for your users.
  • EDU users under age 18 don't have access to calling functionality.
• Account or phone number is required. Learn how to get started with legacy calling in Google Meet.

Access meeting features in the new Meet app

With the update, you can schedule, create and join a meeting. You also get access to Google Meet's suite of meeting features and capabilities. This update allows you to:

• Use in-meeting chat.
• Add live closed captions in a video call.
• Apply virtual backgrounds and visual effects.
• Schedule a meeting or set up instant meetings so that people can join when they're ready.
• Engage with larger groups of up to 100 people in a meeting.

Important: You must be signed in with a Google Account in order to try meeting features. Accounts set up with only a phone number can't use meetings.

Access calling features in the new Meet app

With the upgrade of Duo to Meet, we've added Duo calling features to the Meet app . The upgrade is an improved app experience and doesn't require a new download for Duo users. You're still able to do everything you've always done in Google Duo, such as:

• Make video calls to friends and family by phone number or email.
• Use fun filters and effects.
• Send messages.
• Ask Google Assistant to call with your existing devices.

The Google Duo app and icon are now Google Meet . To make video calls and have meetings in one app, use Google Meet .

• Existing video calling features from Google Duo are here to stay.
• If you used Google Duo or Meet at no cost today, you don't need to pay for the new experience.
• Google Duo conversation history, contacts and messages will remain saved.
• Meet in Gmail will continue to work with no changes.

• To use the combined experience, make sure that your auto-updates are on. Update your app on Android devices.
