Ensure that Google Meet is ON in the Admin Console to let your organization continue using video-calling in the Workspace account after the Duo transition to Meet.

Manage Meet legacy features

Google Duo has transitioned to Google Meet for video meetings. As an administrator, you can turn off Duo features for your users, but we recommend you keep them on.

Send & check messages with Meet

The Legacy (Duo) messages feature is no longer available. Your users will need to export their messages from their legacy calling account settings before they're removed on January 26, 2026. Users can only view their messages on the Google Meet app.

If you have Google Workspace for Education, users in your organization must be over 18 years of age to use legacy calling features. You don’t need to change any settings to prevent users under 18 from using legacy calling features.

Turn off non-compliant features

Duo is not yet compliant with Google core service requirements. To prevent users from accessing non-compliant features, you can turn off access to Duo for your organization.

There are two ways you can turn off Duo:

Turning off Meet affects former Duo users

Turning off Meet turns off Duo Calling, now Meet legacy calls, even if the additional services switch is on. This action turns off all Meet legacy calling accounts and users will lose all of the data associated with those accounts. That data cannot be recovered.
