To use Meet legacy calling (previously known as Duo), you must add an account or phone number.
- If you only add your account but no phone number: You can make and receive legacy calls through your email but won’t be reachable through your phone number.
- If you only add your phone number but no account: You can make and receive legacy calls but can’t create, schedule, or join meetings.
Tips:
- People who know your phone number can reach you across Google services. You can manage phone numbers associated with your Google Account in your Google Account settings.
- For Business and EDU users:
- Your admin controls legacy calling functionality. Learn how admins manage access to services.
- EDU users under age 18 don't have access to calling functionality.
Select your calling account (for legacy calling)
If your device pre-loads Google Accounts, select the Account you want to make calls with.
You can allow Meet to access:
- Your microphone and camera
- Your contacts for calling
- Your device's notifications
If you choose to use Meet without a Google Account, enter and verify your phone number.
- If you have a verified phone number but no Google Account, you can make and receive calls but can’t create, schedule, or join meetings.
Verify your phone number
Important:
- To use Meet on a mobile device with a SIM, you must verify your phone number.
- If you use a tablet or a mobile device without a SIM and choose to not add a phone number, you can make and receive calls with your Google Account.
To verify a phone number:
- On your Android device, enter your phone number.
- Tap Agree.
- If the number you enter is already associated with a Google Account, it’s automatically verified.
- If not, Google Meet texts a code to the number you enter. Carrier text message rates may apply.
- Enter the code you receive from the text message.
- If you don't receive a text message, tap Resend SMS.
- If you have a cell connection but don’t get the SMS, tap Call me.

Change the account you use for legacy calls
To delete your calling account:
- On your Android device, open the Google Meet app
.
- At the top left, tap Menu
.
- Tap Settings

Delete calling account.
- This action deletes your Meet (legacy) call history.
- Tap Delete.
To add new calling account:
- On your Android device, open the Google Meet app
.
- At the top right, tap your avatar
- Tap the account you want to make legacy calls with.
- At the top left, tap Menu
.
- Tap Settings
Add calling account.
- Add and verify your phone number.
Make legacy calls with your Business or EDU account
Important:

- On your Android device, open the Google Meet app

- At the top left, tap Menu

- Tap Settings
- Next to your Business or EDU account, tap Link to (legacy) calling account.
