  • A G Suite administrator needs to turn on Meet for your organization. If you cannot open Meet, contact your admin for help.
  • To create a video meeting, you need to be signed in to a G Suite account.
  • To join a video meeting, you need the Meet mobile app or a supported web browser. You do not need a G Suite account. For details, see Supported web browsers.
  • Anyone inside or outside your organization can join by selecting the link or entering the meeting ID. Uninvited guests outside your organization must be approved by a meeting participant in your organization, including users who aren’t signed in to a G Suite account.

To use Meet, your computer must follow these requirements:

Use a supported operating system

Meet supports the current version and the 2 previous major releases of these operating systems: 

  • macOS®
  • Windows®
  • Chrome
  • Ubuntu® and other Debian-based Linux® distributions
Use a supported web browser

Meet works with the current version and 1 previous major release of the browsers listed below:

  • Google Chrome: Download
  • Firefox (version 60 or higher) Download
  • Safari (version 13 or higher)
Allow Meet to use your camera and microphone
Meet video calls need to use your computer's camera and microphone so you can start your video meeting.

Allow access the first time you use Meet

  1. In a web browser, enter https://meet.google.com/.
  2. Start a meeting.
    A message appears at the top of the video meeting window.
  3. Click Allow. (You only need to do this once.)

Change the setting to allow access

If you aren’t asked to allow access or if you blocked access before, you can change your settings.

  1. In a web browser, enter https://meet.google.com/.
  2. Start a meeting.
  3. In the top right, click Camera error Disallowed media.
  4. Click Always allow https://plus.google.com to access your camera and microphone.
  5. Click Done. The video meeting automatically connects. If you don't see the meeting reload, exit and re-enter the meeting.

Notes

  • If your browser doesn't support Google video calls, you can dial in using the phone number and PIN, if provided by the meeting organizer.
Prepare required meeting equipment
  • Broadband connection to the Internet. Learn more
  • A built-in web camera or external USB camera.
    Note: Other devices, such as virtual cameras, may not work with Meet.
  • 2.2 GHz Intel 2nd-generation i3/i5/i7, AMD equivalent, or better is required to support HD video.
