Campaign and workflow updates

Display & Video 360 API update

The Display & Video 360 API now includes support for insertion order targeting retrieval, third-party audio creatives, and new performance goal types for insertion orders and campaigns. See the release notes for more details.

Geography targeting update

As of February 2021, some geography targeting locations (e.g. outdated zip codes, cities, etc.) are no longer supported in Display & Video 360. Line items that only targeted these locations have been paused. You can view a full list of locations here.

Line item troubleshooter now supports YouTube & partners line items

You can now use line item troubleshooter to diagnose spend issues with YouTube & partners line items. The tool allows you to see filtered impressions for bids, budget, frequency, and creative rejection reasons. Learn more

Video action line item type now available in YouTube & partners line items

Video action line items are the evolution of TrueView for action and provide a simple and cost-effective way to drive conversions across YouTube in multiple formats. Video action line items automatically select a format to optimize results based on the video you include in your ad. In addition to in-stream, ads are eligible to serve on the YouTube home feed using the video discovery format. Learn more

Use lead forms in YouTube & partners line items

You can now attach a lead form to TrueView for action line items to generate leads for your business. Lead forms can help you find and engage interested users, create remarketing lists, and drive sales and conversions for your products or services. Lead forms can serve on mobile and tablet devices running Android. Learn more

Auto-archive for YouTube & partners line items

Display & Video 360 automatically archives any line item that has stopped serving after 6 months of inactivity. This now includes YouTube & partners line items. Learn more

Story insertion orders now support audio

You can now include audio line items in your story insertion order, giving you an additional media type to use to show a sequence of creative messages to your audience. Learn more

Improve collaboration by annotating your changes to line items while editing

You now see a comment box when you’re creating or editing line items that you can use to make notes about your changes. The comments will be visible in the History tab for line items, and other users will be able to add additional notes to them.

Creatives updates

Bulk upload audio companions

You can now include companion creatives in the bulk upload template for audio creatives. You can add companions in bulk to existing creatives using a creative ID or automatically create companions from image and HTML5 assets. Learn more

Check on creative approval and eligibility in the new Creative status tab

To make it easier to troubleshoot creative issues, we've moved all creative details related to creative review, feedback, line item eligibility, and policy information to the new Creative status tab. This should help reduce the clutter on the creative details page and give you one place to go to for creative troubleshooting. Learn more

Insights updates

Learn more about metric and dimension definitions with new tooltips in reporting

The report builders in offline reporting now include tooltips with the definitions for metrics and dimensions. Use these tooltips to help understand the meaning and calculation of metrics and dimensions as you build your reports.

Inventory updates

Targeting updates for Programmatic Guaranteed and non-guaranteed deals

Age, gender, and Affinity audience targeting options are now available for Programmatic Guaranteed and non-guaranteed deals.

Sub-exchanges (with the exception of BidSwitch) no longer available for targeting

In order to make seller-packaged and curated inventory more discoverable as auction packages in Marketplace, all sub-exchanges except for BidSwitch are no longer available for individual targeting under the list of Public Inventory in inventory source targeting. Any sub-exchanges currently targeted in existing line items aren’t affected by this change.
