Now that you have G Suite, here are a few tips to help you begin replacing Microsoft Teams for all your collaboration needs.

You can chat with both people within your organization and with external guests.
  1. Sign in to Chat or Gmail.
  2. Next to Rooms, click Create""and thenCreate room.
  3. Enter a room name.
  4. (Optional) To add a room avatar, click Choose an emoji""and thenselect an emoji. If you don't select an emoji, a default avatar is used instead.
  5. Enter the names or email addresses of the people and groups that you want to add or select from the suggestions. Suggestions include everyone in your organization, even if they don't have Chat.
  6. (Optional) To allow people from outside your organization to join the room, check the Allow people outside your organization to join box.

    Important: You won't be able to change this setting later.

  7. (Optional) To notify invitees, check the Notify people via email box.
  8. Click Create.
  9. (Optional) To add more people and bots to the room, click Add people & bots, enter the name, and then click Send.

Send a direct message to a person

  1. Sign in to Chat or Gmail.
  2. Under Chat, click a name, enter a message, and click Send "".
  3. If the name isn’t under Chat, click Find people, rooms, bots or click Start a chat "".
  4. Enter a name or email address. Suggestions appear as you enter text.
    To send a direct message to someone outside of your organization, enter their full email address.
  5. Select the person that you want to message.
  6. Enter a message and click Send "".
    Suggestions include everyone in your organization, even if they don't have Chat.

Send a direct message to a group

  1. Sign in to Chat or Gmail.
  2. Under Chat, click a group name, enter a message, and click Send "".
  3. If the group name isn’t under Chat:
    • In Chat, click Find people, rooms, botsand thenStart group conversation.
    • In Gmail, under Chat, click Start a chat""and thenStart group conversation.
  4. Enter a name or email address. Suggestions appear as you enter text. 
  5. Click Message or Done "".
  6. Enter a message and click Send "".
    Suggestions include everyone in your organization, even if they don't have Chat.
Have video meetings with a team

  1. In a web browser, enter https://meet.google.com.
  2. Click Join or start a meeting.
  3. (Optional) To create a nickname for your meeting so that people in your organization can quickly join the meeting, enter a nickname. Make it unique to avoid conflicts and keep uninvited people from accidentally joining.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Click Join now.
  6. To add someone to a meeting, choose an option:
    • Click Copy joining info  and paste the meeting details into an email or another app.
    • Click Add people Add people and choose an option:
      • Under the Invite section, select a name or enter an email address and click Send invite.
      • Under the Call section, enter a phone number and press Call Call.

Note: You can send a meeting link to people outside of your organization, but someone from within your organization might need to give them access to the video meeting.

Share files with a team

  1. Open Google Drive.
  2. On the left, click Shared drives.
  3. At the top, click New"".
  4. Enter a name and click Create.

  1. Open Meet and join a video meeting.
  2. Click Present now and choose what to share:
    • Your entire screen
    • A window
  3. Click Share.
  4. When you’re done presenting, click Stop Presenting.
  5. (Optional) To take over presenting from someone else, in the bottom corner, click Present Present your screen and choose what to share.

  1. In Calendar, choose an option:
    • Click an empty time slot in the calendar grid.
    • Click PlusCreate.
  2. Add an event title, date, and time.
  3. Add guests.
  4. Add a room, location, or conference call.
  5. Click Save.

Choose an option:

  • From the Sites homepage, at the top, click Create Plus, or to choose a template, click Template gallery and select a template.
  • From Google Drive, click Plus New and thenMoreand thenGoogle Sites.

Search in the Command box
Search in Google Cloud Search

Go to cloudsearch.google.com or open the Cloud Search app.

1 In the Cloud Search search box, enter your search query, such as the name of a person or words in the document. Use everyday words in your search, such as docs jane sent last month.
2 As you enter your query, customized suggestions display. Use the Down arrow to move through the suggestions and then select a suggestion.
3 (Optional) To see results from the public web, click Search web Website.
4 Navigate through the results and select the search result you want.
