About business information

Business information allows you to complement your existing desktop and mobile text ads with business assets like business name and business logo. These assets can help you better connect with new and existing customers by leveraging brand equity.

Requirements

To use these assets on your text ads, your account needs to complete the Advertiser verification programme. To start verification:

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Billing icon Billing icon.
  2. In the drop-down menu, click Advertiser verification.
  3. Click Get started and follow the instructions.

Important: Note that business information assets are not guaranteed to serve, even if the account has successfully completed advertiser verification. This could mean that some or none of your ads are serving business information assets. This is generally done to protect users. While there is no way to change the serving status of your business information assets, Google will automatically review and update advertisers’ eligibility. We recommend periodically checking your Google Ads account to see if you are getting more impressions on these assets.

Create business information assets

For subtitles in your language, turn on YouTube captions. Select the settings icon Image of YouTube settings icon at the bottom of the video player, then select 'Subtitles/CC' and choose your language.


Dynamic business information assets

To help get you started, Google Ads will crawl your website and dynamically create a business name and business logo for you. These assets are viewable in the 'Assets' tab in your Google Ads account and can be removed. Alternatively, you can choose to provide your own assets (business logo and business name) as described below. If Google Ads was unable to crawl and find eligible assets on your website OR if you currently do not meet the eligibility criteria, your ads will show your display URL and a placeholder logo.

Business information assets

You can add business information assets at both the 'account' and 'campaign' level.

  • You can upload one business name and one business logo at the account level.
  • You can upload one business name and one business logo under each campaign. You may apply the same business name and business logo to multiple campaigns.

If you uploaded business information assets at both the campaign level and the account level, campaign-level assets will always serve over account-level assets. If you have existing business information assets at the campaign level in your Google Ads account and you would like your account-level assets to serve, remove the campaign-level assets by following the instructions below.

Steps to upload business name

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Campaigns icon Campaigns icon.
  2. Click the Assets drop-down in the section menu.
  3. Click Assets.
  4. Click + Business name.
  5. From the 'Add to' drop-down menu, choose the level where you’d like to add the Business name: 'Account' or 'Campaign'.
  6. Type your business name in the 'Business name' box.
  7. Click Apply.

Steps to upload business logo

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Campaigns icon Campaigns icon.
  2. Click the Assets drop-down in the section menu.
  3. Click Assets.
  4. Click + Business logo.
  5. From the 'Add to' drop-down menu, choose the level where you’d like to add the Business logo: 'Account' or 'Campaign'.
  6. In the dialogue box that appears, click Choose files to upload.
  7. Upload the desired file.
  8. Choose the ratio.
  9. Click the applicable ratio button at the bottom of the window.
  10. Click Save.
It can take up to two working days for the system to review your uploaded assets. During that time, your ad will still show but default to showing your display URL and globe icon. Learn more About the ad review process.

To ensure that we provide a high-quality consumer ad experience, business information assets must comply with all Google Ads, Trademark and Copyright policies. In addition, these assets are also subjected to additional format requirements.

If your business name doesn’t exactly match either the domain name or legal name verified via Advertiser verification, the asset won’t be approved.

To check the legal name verified via Advertiser verification, first navigate to your Google Ads account. The verified name is shown on the Advertiser verification page in the Billing section menu.

Note: Your business name must exactly match either the domain name or legal name verified via the advertiser verification programme. However, if you want to use an alternative business name and also own an active trademark registration for that name, you may complete the brand verification process for business information. This process supports the following scenarios:
  • The business name represents a sub-domain of your advertiser verified/legal domain.
  • You own different business names for various lines of business.

Your business logo should match your advertised business and be consistent with your domain name or legal name that was verified via the advertiser verification programme. However, if you want to use an alternative logo and also own an active trademark registration for that logo, you may complete the brand verification process for business information. This process supports the following scenarios:

  • The logo represents a sub-domain of your advertiser verified/legal domain.
  • You own different logos for various lines of business.

Reporting

You can find the performance of your business name and business logos in the assets report such as how many clicks and impressions it has received. You can also remove any of these assets from the reporting table.

Steps to view reporting

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Campaigns iconCampaigns icon.
  2. Click the Assets drop-down in the section menu.
  3. Click Assets.
  4. You will now find a table with all your assets. Select Association from the 'Table view' drop-down menu.
  5. Select 'Business name' or 'Business logo' from the list above the table toolbar.
Note: If you want to remove any business information assets, complete steps 1–4 above, then tick the boxes next to all the assets that you want to remove. Click Remove in the blue bar, then select Confirm.

  4. Click the tick boxes next to all the assets that you want to remove.

Best practices

  • Create the right business representation assets based on your account structure

The business name and logo that you provide should be relevant to all ad groups under a given campaign. If you decide to link the same asset to multiple campaigns, make sure that your asset is relevant to all of these campaigns.

Note: Review decisions of an asset for one campaign can affect the serving of that asset for all associated campaigns.

  • Consistent assets for a given domain

To provide the best user experience, Google recommends using one business name and one logo for a given domain name, across all of your campaigns and accounts. Google may stop serving your business information assets, if inconsistencies across different accounts are recognised. Your ad will continue to serve but default to the display URL and placeholder logo.

If you successfully completed the Advertiser verification programme, then you're automatically eligible to use business information assets. What is the advertiser verification programme?

To provide a safe and trustworthy ecosystem for users and support compliance with emerging regulations, Google will require advertisers to complete the advertiser verification programme. It comprises a series of steps that advertisers will be required to follow and complete. Why am I showing a globe icon as my logo?

If you haven't completed the advertiser verification yet, a placeholder logo will be displayed along with the display URL. There is no way to opt out of showing the placeholder logo and display URL. You can start advertiser verification by following the instructions in the 'Requirements' segment above.

I completed the advertiser verification process. Why am I showing a globe icon as my logo?

Business information assets aren't guaranteed to serve, even if the account has successfully completed advertiser verification and is eligible for business information. In such instances, there is no way to change the serving status of your business information assets. We recommend periodically checking your Google Ads account to see if they've begun generation impressions.

How can I opt out of showing dynamic business information assets?

To opt out of showing dynamic business information assets, you can either upload your own assets, which will always trump the automatically generated dynamic assets. You can also pause all assets to trigger the placeholder logo and display URL.

Will my ad stop serving if I have disapproved business name and business logo?

No, the ad will not be disapproved. Availability of these assets will have no impact on ad serving as we will display the placeholder logo and display URL if there are no available dynamic or advertiser uploaded assets.

Is it possible to have different logos for organic search vs Google ads?

Yes, this is possible as we're allowing advertisers to provide their own logos. For organic search, logos are crawled adhering to a different set of guidelines. Additionally, you may show the placeholder logo on your ad if you are not currently eligible for business information.

How can I check what’s the legal name verified via advertiser verification?

In your Google Ads account, the verified name is shown on the Advertiser Verification page under Billing icon Billing.

How can I see my verification status?

You can check your verification status directly in your Google Ads account under the Advertiser verification tab in the Billing section drop-down menu. Allow up to five to seven working days for the verification to update in your account after you submit documentation. You'll also receive an email notification to inform you if the verification was successful or if more information is required.

Can I upload different business information assets at the campaign level and the account level?

Yes. You have the flexibility to upload different account-level and campaign-level assets.
