Advertiser verification: Tasks required for verification

Google provides translated versions of our Help Centre, although they are not meant to change the content of our policies. Build trust, increase transparency and get access to more features by completing advertiser verification. You’ll just need to complete a few tasks, such as answering a few questions about your organisation. After getting verified, some of your info will appear in ad disclosures and the Ads Transparency Center, which provides context about an advertiser and their ads.

Tasks required for verification

Google Ads will notify you via an in-account notification or an email when you need to complete advertiser verification.

To start verification, you’ll answer a few questions about your organisation and complete some required tasks. These tasks will vary depending on your account, billing setup and other factors. Only a Google Ads account admin can complete the tasks.

After you’re verified, your advertiser name and location will appear in ad disclosures, My Ad Centre and Ads Transparency Center. Learn more about Ads transparency.

Given a deadline?

Your account will be paused if you don’t complete advertiser verification by the deadline. You can see your deadline on the advertiser verification page. It’s important to start early since it can take up to five working days for Google Ads to review the info that you submit.

No deadline?

You may choose to get verified on your own. You may want to do this to:

It can take up to five working days to review your task. In rare cases, review time can take up to 30 days. You can still run ads if you don’t complete advertiser verification.

Account paused?

You’ll only be able to run ads again if you complete advertiser verification

Appealing a suspension?

You’ll be able to appeal only if you complete advertiser verification


How to start a task

You may be asked to complete one or more of the tasks listed in the next section. To start a task, check your status or retry a task, follow these steps:

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Billing icon Billing Icon.
  2. Click Advertiser verification.
  3. Click Start task and follow the provided instructions.
Note: Your payments profile account type is set to either individual or organisation. This affects which tasks you’ll need to complete. Learn more about how to Change your account type.

Tasks for everyone

Answer a few questions about your organisation

You’ll need to answer a few questions about the type of organisation and who pays for the ads.

If you manage ads for a client, make sure that you select Yes for 'Is your organisation an agency?' for the ad disclosure. Otherwise, your account may be paused or suspended.

Answer a few questions about your business operations

You’ll need to answer questions about:

  • Your organisation
  • Products or services that you offer
  • Your advertisements
  • Your relationships with other organisations


For subtitles in your language, turn on YouTube captions. Select the settings icon Image of YouTube settings icon at the bottom of the video player, then select 'Subtitles/CC' and choose your language.


Most advertisers won’t see this task.


Tasks for individuals

Submit your documents

You’ll submit personal info and a government-issued photo ID. See the list of acceptable documents for your country.


The name and location on the payments profile must exactly match your name and location on any documents that you submit. If the name doesn’t match, make sure that you edit your payments profile name by clicking on the pencil icon next to your name. If you don’t have edit access, you’ll need to contact us.

Confirm your phone number

You’ll enter a phone number and confirm a six-digit code that will be sent to your phone.

  • The phone number area code must be that of your payments profile country.
  • Your phone number will be deleted after completing the task.
If you can’t confirm your phone number after five attempts, you’ll be asked to submit a government-issued photo ID instead.

Confirm your social security number (US only)

You’ll submit personal info, including your SSN.

  • Your SSN will be deleted after completing this task.
  • If your SSN can’t be verified after three attempts, you’ll be asked to submit a government-issued photo ID instead.
If you’re completing advertiser verification to appeal your account suspension and your SSN can’t be verified after three attempts, you’ll be asked to submit a government-issued photo ID instead. If you fail all attempts, you’ll no longer be allowed to appeal.

Take a video selfie

You’ll submit your government-issued photo ID and take a video selfie. Only an admin on the payments profile can complete this task.

If your ID and video selfie don’t match after five attempts, you’ll need to contact us.

Tasks for organisations

Provide your Dun & Bradstreet info

You’ll enter your organisation’s info and you’ll have the option to provide your D-U-N-S number. Learn more about D‑U‑N‑S® enrolment.


If there isn’t a match, ensure that the info provided is correct and try again. After three unsuccessful attempts, you’ll be asked to submit your organisation's document instead. Refer to the list of acceptable documents for your country.

Submit your organisation’s documents

You’ll enter your organisation’s info and submit your organisation’s documents. Refer to the list of acceptable documents for your country.

The name and location on the payments profile must exactly match your legal name and location on any documents that you submit. If the name doesn’t match, make sure that you edit your payments profile name by clicking on the pencil icon Pencil icon / edit icon next to your name. If you don’t have edit access, you’ll need to contact us.

Using a trade or DBA name? The trade or DBA name must match and be on the same registration document that you submit, along with the legal name.

Make sure that the name in the document doesn’t have:

  • Inaccurate names
  • Capitalisation, promotional language or domains, unless they are part of a valid legal name, valid trade name or DBA name
  • Special characters such as emojis, service info or phone numbers

For South Korea only

You’ll need to:

Confirm your organisation’s email

You’ll enter your organisation's email and confirm the six-digit code that was sent to the email

This is an optional task – there aren’t any consequences for skipping it or not completing it


Tasks for agencies

Grants accounts have the same verification process as agencies.

You’ll enter your agency’s info and will need to complete one or more of the following tasks:

  • Provide your D-U-N-S info
  • Submit your documents
  • Confirm your phone number
  • Confirm your social security number (National Insurance number)

Provide your client’s info

For Google Ad Grants accounts, the business name of the profile that you choose must match the grantee's name. If you’re required to submit documents, you’ll need to submit the grantee’s documentation. Learn more about Document requirements for advertiser verification.

As an agency, you can either:

  • Send a link with the task to your client
  • Complete the task for your client
    • You'll select an existing payments profile or create a new one for your client

You can only see the payments profiles that you're an admin for. Don’t see a certain payments profile? You'll need to contact the payments profile’s admin and send a link with the task to the admin. This won’t affect the Google Ads account billing setup or give new access to the Google Ads account.

If the selected payments profile hasn't been verified, you’ll need to complete a separate advertiser verification for your client. This means that you'll be asked to complete one or more tasks listed above under Organisation or Individual, depending on your client’s account type. After the payments profile is verified, the agency will be notified by email.

As a client, you’ll need to:

  • Follow the link sent by your agency and complete the task
    • You'll select an existing payments profile or create a new one for your client.
  • If you’re signed in to the agency’s account, you can follow the instructions for an agency.

You can only see the payments profiles that you're an admin for. Don’t see a certain payments profile? You'll need to contact the payments profile’s admin and send a link with the task to the admin. This won’t affect the Google Ads account billing setup or give new access to the Google Ads account.

If the selected payments profile hasn't been verified, you’ll need to complete a task. After the payments profile is verified, the agency will be notified by email.


Tasks for certain industries

To run ads for certain industries, you’ll need to meet additional criteria, which may include applying for certification, verification or completing certain tasks.
