About payments profiles

To manage your advertising expenses, you need a payments profile. This profile stores the essential details used for billing and payments in your Google Ads account, such as:

  • Who pays: The name and address of the person or company legally responsible for account costs.
  • What you pay with: The payment methods you use to pay for ads. You can access this in a separate page.
  • Tax details: Your tax status, country, and ID.
  • Contacts: The names and contact details for people who are on the profile.
  • Document language: In some countries, you can choose the language for your billing and payment documents. If language selection isn’t available, the official language of the billing country will be used.

Your profile will be set up automatically when you create your Google Ads account if using either automatic or manual payments. To create a payments profile on monthly invoicing, contact us.

How it works

Payments accounts

A payments account is part of your payments profile. It holds the settings for your Google Ads billing and payments activity. You might see this called an “invoice set-up” or "billing set-up" and is only for customers on monthly invoicing. If your account is on monthly invoicing, you can change your payments account by going to the Billing transfers page and clicking the pencil icon Edit setting, pencil icon, then selecting Change invoice set-up.
Each payments profile can have multiple payments accounts associated with it. You may want to have multiple setups so that you can manage billing and payments for multiple Google Ads accounts. For example, an agency can use multiple invoice setups to manage billing activity for each of their multiple clients.
To request a change of account type (individual or organization), contact the Google Ads support team.

Use your profile in any Google product

Your payments profile makes it easy to use your payment methods to pay for services in other Google products, like Cloud storage or Google Analytics. This also means that if you've already established a payments relationship in an existing Google Ads account or in another Google product, you may be able to choose to use that profile without reentering all your information or creating a new profile for Google Ads.
It's important to remember that when you edit profile details (such as payment methods) from within your Google Ads account, those changes will apply to other products that use the same profile. Visit the Google payments center for an overview of all products that would be impacted by an edit to a payments profile.

Instructions

View or edit your profile

To view, edit, or check the details of your payments profile, follow the steps below.

Keep in mind that what you can edit in your payments profile depends on your specific payment setting and your billing country.

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Billing icon Billing Icon.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Find the "Payer details" section where you can view details like your payments profile ID, account type and other details. If you're on monthly invoicing, this section will be called “Payments profile”.

To edit your payments profile, you can make changes to any field that has a pencil icon Edit setting, pencil icon, then click Save.

Keep in mind: For advertisers on monthly invoicing, the "Payments profile" section is not editable. If you're on monthly invoicing and would like to edit your business address or phone number, contact us. You need to be a payments profile user to request these edits.

View or edit payments users

Payments users are contacts associated with the payments profile that can have different access levels to the payments profile (for example, admin, read-only and more). Some actions linked to your payments profile may be required by the payments admin.

Find the payments admins in your Google Ads account:

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Billing icon Billing Icon.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Find the "Payments users" section. Click Add a new user or click the drop-down to open existing user information to manage permissions related to the payments profile, including granting or revoking access to make purchases or edit the profile.
