Create a sub-manager account in the new Search Ads 360

This article explains how to create a new sub-manager account under an existing manager account.
After 14 August 2023, you will no longer be able to create advertiser accounts, or create and link client accounts, in the previous Search Ads 360.

Before you begin

Each sub-manager account in the new Search Ads 360 is linked to an advertiser in Campaign Manager 360. If the advertiser doesn't exist in your Campaign Manager 360 account, you need to create it there first.

Each advertiser in your Campaign Manager 360 account can be linked to only one sub-manager account in the new Search Ads 360. Learn more about the one-to-one relationship between the new Search Ads 360 and Campaign Manager 360.

Special permissions required

To create a sub-manager account in the new Search Ads 360, you need the following permissions in your Google account:

Google accounts with multiple user profiles in Campaign Manager 360 aren't supported in the new Search Ads 360. If your Google account has been granted multiple user profiles in Campaign Manager 360, you can't create a sub-manager in the new Search Ads 360, even if your Campaign Manager 360 profiles have the correct roles, or if some of the profiles are inactive.

Create an advertiser in Campaign Manager 360

Campaign Manager 360 uses the term “advertiser.” The new Search Ads 360 uses the term “sub-manager account.”

A user who has manager account permissions in the new Search Ads 360 and Agency Admin permissions in Campaign Manager 360 can create an advertiser in Campaign Manager 360 and add it as a sub-manager account in the new Search Ads 360.

In Campaign Manager 360, follow the steps to create a new advertiser , specifying the settings that you want. Then complete the steps below to create a sub-manager account in the new Search Ads 360.

Create a sub-manager account in the new Search Ads 360

When you add a Campaign Manager 360 advertiser to the new Search Ads 360, you link the advertiser and a sub-manager account in the new Search Ads 360. When you create a sub-manager account, settings such as "name" and "currency" match those settings in Campaign Manager 360. Learn more about the currency setting.

Google recommends that your sub-manager account uses the same currency as the Campaign Manager 360 advertiser. Once you link a sub-manager account to a Campaign Manager 360 advertiser, you can’t change the currency setting or link the sub-manager account to another Campaign Manager 360 advertiser.

Before adding a sub-manager account in the new Search Ads 360, make sure the Campaign Manager 360 advertiser has already been created.

To create a sub-manager account in the new Search Ads 360, do the following:

  2. Navigate to a manager account.
  3. In the page menu, click Settings.
  4. In the sub-menu, click Sub-account settings.

    • This setting is "off" by default. If you turn this setting "on", you grant Google sales and support representatives read-only access to your Google Ads–related data in the new Search Ads 360, so they can provide tips and advice on analyzing data and improving the configuration of your Google Ads accounts. This access includes data associated with your Google Ads accounts, such as Google Analytics conversions and third-party data.
    • Turning on data sharing won't affect your Google Marketing Platform sales and support representatives. They will still have access to help you manage your account in the new Search Ads 360. Learn more about sharing Google Ads data with Google representatives.
  10. Click More settings.
  11. Select a currency for your sub-manager account. Be sure to select the same currency that your Campaign Manager 360 advertiser uses.
    • Once you save the currency setting, you can’t change it. Learn more about using the same currency setting as the Campaign Manager 360 advertiser.
  12. Click Create sub-manager account.
