How to fix: Inaccurate installment costs

Your account has either been warned or suspended due to this error

For one or more of your items, the installment cost as specified in your product data doesn’t match the installment cost on your product landing pages or at checkout on your website. Google requires merchants to provide users with complete and correct installment information and costs.

You should have received an email asking you to update your product data by a certain date so that the values in your data are consistent with those on your landing page. Check the installment [installment] attribute to learn how to submit products with installment payments in your desired target country. Make sure to review the best practices for listing wireless products and services.

When providing the installment attribute in your product data, ensure the following:

  • Use the installment [installment] attribute to give customers the details of a monthly installment payment plan.
  • Match the installment plan that you display on your landing page. You can also display other installment options on your landing page, but the plan you submit should be easy to find on the landing page.
  • Don’t require that users have a loyalty card to choose the installment option.
  • Avoid using the installment [installment] attribute for software subscriptions. Software subscriptions must be prepaid, and you should submit the yearly prepaid cost using the price [price] attribute.
  • Activation fees shouldn’t be included in the price attribute for products sold in the US. Subscription plans are not supported in the US.
  • Use the installment [installment] attribute in approved countries only. Use of this attribute in unapproved countries will result in disapproval of your product.
  • Use the installment [installment] attribute for approved product categories only. Use of this attribute for other categories of products will result in disapproval of your product.
  • Submit exact values for your installment costs in accordance with ISO 4217. For example, submit 1.01 MXN instead of 1.0012 MXN, otherwise we’ll round the submitted value.
  • If the installment amount for your product increases after a certain time, you must submit the highest monthly cost in the “amount” sub-attribute. For example, if the installment amount increases from $20 USD to $40 USD after 6 months, then specify $40 USD.

Instructions

Step 1: Check that your product data matches the installment cost on your site

  1. Investigate your update process to see what could be causing the problem:
    • Check the warning email for examples of affected products. Look for a common problem in your product data that could cause the problem.
  2. Once you’ve addressed the problem, update the installment [installment] attribute in your product data. 

Step 2: Resubmit your product data

After you’ve fixed the issue and updated your product data, resubmit it using one of these methods:

Step 3: Request a review

In some instances, if your account or one of your product offers is disapproved and you’ve either fixed the issue or you disagree with the issue, you can request a review. If the review is successful, your issue will disappear. If the disapproval remains and you’re uncertain with how to proceed, contact us for support.

Note: If you use a third-party platform to list your products, you may also be able to go to your third-party application to request a review.
