Troubleshoot Google One trial issues

Need help starting your trial? Make sure the invitation hasn't expired and wasn't already redeemed. If it's still valid, contact your OEM/carrier support for more help.

If you have other issues, try the steps below.

You already have a Google One account

The Google One offer is only available to new Google One members and you can't redeem the offer with a Google account that is already associated with a Google One membership. You can switch to another eligible Google account to redeem the offer.

Your Google account type is not eligible

You need to be logged in to an eligible Google account to redeem the offer. A GSuite account that you have through your work is not eligible. You can switch to another eligible Google account to redeem the offer.

The link is no longer valid

The offer has expired, but you can still sign up for a Google One membership here or through the Google One mobile app. There is no free trial available once the promotion has ended.

Offer has already been used

Promotion codes are unique and are for one-time use only. You can still sign up for a Google One membership here or through the Google One mobile app. There is no free trial available once the promotion has ended.

Error with payment

An eligible payment method must be registered with Google Pay to redeem the offer. For any payment issues, visit the Google Play help center.

Pay with Direct Carrier Billing

If you redeem the offer through the link you received, you won't have the option to pay with Direct Carrier Billing.

To pay with Direct Carrier Billing:

  1. Complete the sign-up using the link you received on your mobile device.
  2. Download the Google One app from the Play Store.
  3. Open the Google One app and then Settings.
  4. Change the Payment method to Direct Carrier Billing.

Stop your trial or membership

When your trial is almost over, you can choose to cancel your membership. If you don't want to be charged, cancel your membership before the last day of your trial.

If you end your membership, the following will happen:

  • You and your family members will lose access to extra member benefits and Google experts.
  • You and your family members will lose access to your additional storage. Each person will keep their default 15 GB of free storage.

Running out of storage & cancelled or expired plans

If you cancel your storage plan or when your storage plan expires, your storage limits will reset to the free levels for each product at the end of your billing cycle. Everything in Google Drive, Google Photos, and Gmail will still be accessible, but you won't be able to create or add anything new over the free storage limit. If you reach or exceed the free storage limit:

  • Google Drive: You won't be able to sync or upload new files. Syncing between your computer's Google Drive folder and My Drive will stop. You can still create Google documents because they don't take up any storage space.
  • Google Photos: If you store photos in Original quality and run out of storage space, you can buy more storage, back up in High quality (lower resolution), or turn off back up.
  • Gmail: You won't be able to send or receive messages.

Clear storage space

If you're using more than 15 GB of storage, all your files will stay safe, but you won't be able to store anything new.

You can clear space in Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos to make room for new items.
