Cancelling your Google Ads account

You can cancel your Google Ads account at any time. All your ads will stop within 24 hours. If you have a remaining balance, we'll automatically initiate a refund for any unused prepaid funds or other refundable credits. The refund process typically takes 4–12 weeks, including the time for your bank to process the credit. You can track your refund status on the 'Billing summary' page. You'll need to reactivate your account if you want to use it again in the future.

Note: If your Google Ads account has no recorded spend for more than 15 months, it will be considered inactive and automatically cancelled. Learn more About account cancellation.

Before you cancel

  • If you don't have the remaining balance in your Google Ads account, consider pausing your campaigns instead of cancelling your account.
  • If you're not happy with how your campaigns are performing, review the Google Ads best practices for optimisation tips to drive better results.

  • Any parameters for dynamic remarketing will be deleted.

If you cancel your account, you'll still need to pay for any accrued costs. If you have any refundable credit left in your account, you should receive a refund to your original payment method within 4–12 weeks. In some countries, you may be required to fill in an additional form to get a refund, especially if you paid by bank transfer. Note that any amounts from promotional offers are excluded from the refund amount. Learn more about Managing billing after cancelling your Google Ads account.
