Edit or end a finalized Ad Exchange Preferred Deal

When negotiations for your Preferred Deal are complete and you've clicked the "Finalize" button, the deal becomes active, is assigned a deal ID, and all of the details are pushed to Google's ad serving system. You can make changes to some aspects of a Preferred Deal, even after if has been finalized.

Edit a finalized Preferred Deal

  1. Click Active from the Preferred Deals menu on the Deals tab and locate the deal.
    If you're accessing this feature from DFP instead of Ad Exchange, navigate to Sales and then Preferred Deals.
  2. Click the name of the Preferred Deal.
  3. From the details page, click Change.

After you have made your changes, you can re-finalize your Preferred Deal.

End date

Only finalized negotiations can be ended.

End date is mandatory and cannot exceed 12 months from the date created or edited. If you want to revive an ended deal, you can change the end date to the future.

Targeting You can add or remove all or specific targeting criteria even after a deal has been finalized. To do so, follow the same steps as you would when you set targeting in the creation of an offer. An email notification is sent to the buyer when inventory is added or removed.

Comments You can enter any additional information you may want to share with the buyer.

Edits to the above fields do not affect the deal ID and do not need to be approved by the buyer. These updates are recorded in the change history. To view the change history, access your deal and click the grey arrows on the right side of the page, or Show change log.

End a finalized Preferred Deal

  1. Click Active from the Preferred Deals menu on the Deals tab and locate the deal.
    If you're accessing this feature from DFP instead of Ad Exchange, navigate to Sales and then Preferred Deals.
  2. Select the checkbox next to the deal.
  3. Click End deal above the list of deals.

When a Preferred Deal is ended, an email notification is sent to advise that the deal has changed. Ended deals appear in the "Ended" menu in the Preferred Deals section of the Deal tab.

Only finalized negotiations can be ended.

Common reasons to end a finalized Preferred Deal

  • The deal was created in error
  • There's a lower rate of buying than expected
  • You want to change the price

If you're ending a Preferred Deal to change the price, you can create a new offer with the new price. The buyer is notified via email of the ended deal and needs to be aware of the new deal ID generated from the new offer.

If you want to revive an ended deal, you can change the end date to the future. Cannot exceed 12 months from the date edited.
