Datadog cloud application

You must be signed in as a super administrator for this task.

Using Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), your users can use their Google Cloud credentials to sign in to enterprise-cloud applications.

Set up SSO via SAML for Datadog

Here's how to set up single sign-on (SSO) via SAML for the Datadog application.

Step 1: Set up Google as a SAML identity provider (IdP)
  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

Sign in using an account with super administrator privileges (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. In the Admin console, go to Menu and then Appsand thenWeb and mobile apps.
  3. Click Add appand thenSearch for apps.
  4. Enter Datadog in the search field.
  5. In the search results, hover over the Datadog SAML app and click Select.
  6. On the Google Identity Provider details page, download the IDP metadata.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. On the Service provider details page, set Name ID Format to Email.
  9. On the Attribute Mapping page, click the Select field menu and map the following Google directory attributes to their corresponding Datadog attributes:

    Google directory attribute Datadog attribute
Basic Information > Primary Email urn:oid:1.3.6.1.4.1.5923.1.1.1.6
Basic Information > Last Name urn:oid:2.5.4.4
Basic Information > First Name urn:oid:2.5.4.42
  10. (Optional) To enter group names that are relevant for this app:
    1. For Group membership (optional), click Search for a group, enter one or more letters of the group name, and select the group name.
    2. Add additional groups as needed (maximum of 75 groups).
    3. For App attribute, enter the groups attribute name of the corresponding service provider.

Regardless of how many group names you enter, the SAML response includes only groups that a user is a member of (directly or indirectly). For more information, go to About group membership mapping.

  11. Click Finish.
Step 2: Set up Datadog as a SAML 2.0 service provider (SP)
  1. Open a new incognito browser window.
  2. Sign in to https://app.datadoghq.com/account/login with your organization's Datadog administrator account.
  3. Click your Datadog username, then click Configure SAML.
  4. Click Choose File and locate the IDP metadata file you downloaded in Step 1.
  5. Click Upload File.
  6. Click Enable.
  7. (Optional) To use Identity Provider (IdP) Initiated Login, check this option in the Additional Features section, then click Save.

Selecting the IdP Initiated Login feature generates a second ACS URL in the Assertion Consumer Service URL area above.
This area is only displayed in the Datadog configuration page after you check Identity Provider (IdP) Initiated Login, saved the configuration, and opened the page again.
This URL contains a unique company ID string at the end. To use IdP initiated login, copy this URL, then in the Admin console go to Apps > SAML Apps > Datadog > Service provider details and enter the URL in the ACS URL field.

  8. Click Save.
Step 3: Enable the Datadog app
  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

  3. Select Datadog.

  8. Ensure that your Datadog user account email IDs match those in your Google domain.
