If you uploaded your tax exemption certificate but it was rejected, here are some reasons this might occur.
You submitted an IRS income tax exemption letter or W-9
IRS income tax letters are not acceptable for state sales tax exemptions. If you believe you qualify for an exemption, submit a completed state exemption certificate.
You submitted a state license, permit, or other document
The document you submitted isn’t a valid exemption certificate. We can’t accept forms like state business licenses, permits, or Secretary of State documents in place of a valid exemption certificate. Submit a completed exemption or resale certificate.
Name on the account doesn’t match name on the certificate
The entity making the Google service purchase must match the one listed on the exemption certificate. The entity making the purchase is represented by the customer business name on your account. If the name on your certificate is correct, work with your Google customer service representative to update the business name on your account.
The certificate was incomplete or incorrect
Examples of incomplete or incorrect information include the certificate not being signed or a box left unchecked. Review the certificate for accuracy and completeness and resubmit.
