Upload your tax exemption certificate

Applies to G Suite, Google Drive Enterprise, and other paid subscriptions in your Google Admin console.

If you have an invoiced billing account, this information doesn’t apply to you. Instead, contact G Suite support or your account manager for help with entering your tax exemption certificate.

If you qualify for a tax exemption, follow these instructions to submit your tax exemption certificate to Google for review. If you qualify for more than one type of exemption, you can submit multiple certificates.

Important: Google can’t advise you about tax matters. Contact your tax adviser for questions specific to your situation.

Upload your certificate

You can upload your tax exemption certificate file in PDF, JPG, or PNG format.

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. From the Admin console Home page, go to Billing.
  3. Next to your subscription, click Actions and then Access billing account.
  4. Under Settings, click Manage Settings.
  5. Click Tax exemption info.
  6. Click Add new tax exemption (optional).
  7. Enter or select:
    • Your state
    • Your Tax Exemption Number
    • The certificate start and end date, if applicable
    • The exemption type, if applicable
  8. Click Upload File and select your tax exemption certificate file.
  9. After the file has finished uploading, click Add.
  10. (Optional) To upload another certificate, click Add new tax exemption (optional).
  11. Click Save.

Check your tax exemption status

After you submit your certificate, Google needs to review it before confirming your tax exemption.

To check the status:

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. From the Admin console Home page, go to Billing.
  3. Next to your subscription, click Actions and then Access billing account.
  4. Under Settings, click Manage Settings.
  5. Click Tax exemption info.
  6. Scroll to the state you selected in your submission to view the status of the exemption. 

If your certificate is rejected

Review these possible reasons for rejection.
