Googe Fit not syncing with Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 (Classic)

Hi guys,

i installed Google Fit for my new Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. Watchfaces like the Google Fit Watchface display the correct step count and heart rate. However, when i start on my Pixel 5 the Google Fit app no data has been synced for the last days.

I assume with Samsungs change to WearOS these problems would be of the past. :-(

Any ideas how to force the syncing without any additional third party apps like health sync?

I had issues with my initial setup of the Fit app, caused by not having installed the Google Apps Device Policy app needed to get it working with Google Workspace account. Before this the app was not syncing my settings or profile at all.

After installing the policy, it took a few minutes before the data was in sync between my watch and the app on my Android device.

After one day of having Fit actually installed, it's bit hard to say how these actually work together, given the phone itself is tracking something as well.

Sorry to hear. You may need to bear with some of us as you have what I don't! Hope the new watch is as great as it looks.

It sounds like you're saying that the app doesn't show steps on the phone, not the watch. Are you saying that the watch registers the steps but, when synching via bluetooth with the pixel, that the steps aren't recorded?

I have an old Wear OS 2 and Tizen watch.

Yes on the google fit watchface if i display the google fit steps the numbers change, but there is no syncing via bluetooth or wifi. The google fit app on my smartphone shows no data at all for the last few days.

Oh and to be honest, i think i will stick to my Ticwatch Pro 3 for clean WearOS and much better battery life.

My review of OS 3 is that it is a bit more Tizen refined with a Wear OS overlaid on the Samsung watch. I do know that Samsung Fit works well, being the natively installed app, and Google Fit isn't in the Tizen Galaxy Wear store. I'll look into this issue even though it seems you're going to stick with your Ticwatch.

If I had to guess what it is going on, the Fit app on the watch is counting steps but not synching with the watch app. Can't be sure whether it is the combo (Samsung phones still providing more optimal connection with Samsung watches and software) or just an overlooked user issue. Personally I find both Samsung (especially) and Google could both use some UI UX improvements in these areas.

Thanks for the report. I'm waiting on my Galaxy Watch 4 to arrive in a few (long!!!) weeks straight from Samsung.  It's going to be interesting to see how things will work on Samsung's watches versus non-Sammy watches that will probably not be as partial to Samsung Health and Tizen. Odd that apps like Pujie Black (watch face designer) was pulled from the Samsung store so those custom watch faces only work with Google products (Fit) but not Samsung and now several things don't work properly.

I have 2 Samsung watches and it has always been an annoyance that two watches requires the constant changing of which watch is primary (often but not always) + ALWAYS needing to regrant permission for Samsung Wear app to have access to my phone for each switch. Hopefully everything will be more seamless across the board with these two great companies working together. We shall see and remain cautiously optimistic.

As far as I'm aware the data does not sync with Google Fit. I also just purchased the Galaxy Watch 4, and it's supported by the Samsung Health app and the Galaxy Wearable app (for watch faces and the like).

In order to sync the Samsung Health app I use the app Health Sync to send the data over to Google Fit.

John - thanks for the information. I should have the watch as well shortly and glad to have heard your experience first.
