Android Wear 5.1.1 update causes massive random battery drain (multiple watches)

Hi all,

There's already a thread about this in the Wear forum for specifically the Sony SmartWatch 3:

However, it's now clear that this bug is affecting multiple watches:

Charlie, this is a user to user forum so none of us has inside information into AW development.

Have you reported the issue by using the Help and feedback option in Android Wear on your phone?

Hi! Does nobody in Sony and Google As development team actually use their smartwatch?!

This has been escalated to our community manager here on the forum.
Hope we get some update soon!

PS: In the past, there were heavy battery drains associated with a specific third party app. May be there is a culprit like that here as well, since this is affecting more than one model.

We will have to wait and see! As Joe said, this is a user forum and we do not have much information on the Google side of things.

Daily rebooting failed to stop battery drain.  Lasted almost 24 hours, but woke me with a burning wrist. I'm a heavy sleeper too.

Update on my watch: Good news! The watch battery life works just as it did before and lasts about 2 days.

This started happening after a few charging cycles. Read somewhere in the forum that it is because of the system update rebuilding itself.
