Using Google Contacts with Voice

With Google Voice, you have access to all of your Google contacts, including those from Gmail, Inbox, Google+, and other Google services. You can use Google Voice to call or text any of these contacts straight from your Google Contacts page. Customizing Google Voice settings for individual contacts is still only accessible in Google Voice.

Call or text directly from Google Contacts

  1. On a computer, open Google Contacts.
  2. Click a contact's name.
  3. Point to the phone number and select either Call with Google Voice  or Text with Google Voice .

Customize Google Voice settings for individual contacts 

To change the Google Voice notification and greeting settings for your contacts, use Google Voice. 

  1. On a computer, open Google Voice.
  2. In the field at the top of the window, search for your contact’s name.
  3. Click the contact’s name.
  4. On the contact page, choose the settings you want for your contact.
  5. At the bottom, click Save.

Edit full contact details in Google Contacts

To change a contact's general contact info, like name, number, or other contact information, use Google Contacts.

  1. On a computer or phone, open Google Contacts.
  2. Click the contact’s name.
  3. Click details such as the contact's name, phone number, or other contact information.
