Buy credit to make calls

To make paid calls, buy credit from Google Voice.
You can have a maximum balance of $70.00.
- On your computer, go to voice.google.com.
- At the top right, click Settings .
- On the left, click Payments.
- Next to Current balance, click Add credit.
- Select an amount to add, then click Add credit.
- Pay with your Google Account. You get an email to confirm your purchase.
If you're not sure how much credit to buy, you can look up a calling rate for the number you want to call. Next to Calling rates, click Look up , and then enter the country you want to call. Rates vary by country and are counted per minute.
On your bank statement, you might see an extra $1.00 transaction from Google. This is a temporary authorization request to make sure your card is valid and has enough funds. It isn't an actual charge, and will disappear.
If you see a credit purchase for a larger amount that you didn't make, find out how to report the unauthorized charge.
Domestic and international calls use minutes from your mobile phone plan. Calls don't use an internet or data connection.
When you call someone, your call is routed through a randomly assigned U.S. number. If the routed number’s area code isn’t the same as your area code, you might be charged long-distance rates. If you’re traveling to another country, you can be charged international calling rates by your carrier.
Standard airtime and text messaging rates apply, based on your phone plan.
If you have a U.S. number and call someone while visiting in another country, you'll be charged international rates. Your cell phone company might also charge you extra roaming fees. You can use Wi-Fi and classic Hangouts to make calls without roaming.
Confirm that your paid call is using Google Voice
If your call isn't free, you’ll hear or see a message from Google Voice. The message will say how much the call costs or that the call is being routed through Google Voice.
If you don't hear or see a message, your call isn't using Google Voice. Your cell phone company might charge you.
Check that your call settings haven't been changed by a recent app update or another app that's conflicting with Google Voice.
Use of data & text messages
You can only send text messages to numbers in the U.S. or Canada.
Texts you send
Texts you send through the Google Voice website and apps are sent using data. They can use mobile data from your cell phone service plan, or a Wi-Fi Internet connection.
You don't need to buy Google Voice credit.
Texts you get
You can be charged for getting text messages, depending on your cell phone service.
