Keep the previous and new Search Ads 360 in sync

While you're working in both the previous and the new Search Ads 360, you should make sure that you're viewing current data and working with the most recently configured settings. Different features vary in where they should be managed.

  • Some migrated features can only be managed in the new Search Ads 360.
  • Some features are continuously synced between the previous and the new Search Ads 360, so you can make changes in either experience and see them reflected in the other experience.
  • Some features are available in both the previous and the new Search Ads 360, can be managed separately, and can be copied one-way to the new Search Ads 360 on demand.
  • Some features aren't yet available in the new Search Ads 360 and should be managed in the previous Search Ads 360.

You can visit the Experience hub to check the status of each feature.

Bid strategies and budget management

Bid strategies and budget management are upgraded in the new Search Ads 360 once your account is eligible and you agree to the upgrade process in the Experience hub. The upgrade may take up to a couple of days to begin, and it can take several hours to complete.

After the upgrade, you'll manage bid strategies and budget management in the new Search Ads 360, and conversion actions will be grouped into conversion goals and managed at the sub-manager account level.

If you're using inventory management to assign created campaigns to bid strategies, you need to upgrade your bid strategies and budget management prior to Templates migration in order to get the Templates bidding functionality. In the time between upgrading your bidding and migrating Templates, all campaigns created will still be available in the new Search Ads 360.

Rules and scheduled edits

Your rules and scheduled edits will be migrated to the new Search Ads 360 on a specific date. You'll receive a notification when the system schedules the migration. You can check the Experience hub for the current migration status.

If there are any syncing issues, the Experience hub displays the number of errors. You should fix any errors, then manage rules and scheduled edits in the new Search Ads 360.

Executive reports

Executive reports aren't supported in the new Search Ads 360. You can also connect your Search Ads 360 account to Looker Studio, a separate tool by Google for visualizing data.

Campaigns

Campaign updates made in either the new or previous Search Ads 360 are automatically posted to the client account, but aren't automatically synced to the other Search Ads 360 experience (except for Google Ads campaigns).

For example, if you add a new Microsoft Advertising campaign from the new Search Ads 360, you won't see it in the previous Search Ads 360. You need to sign in to the previous Search Ads 360 and sync the Microsoft Advertising account. Similarly, changes to campaigns made in the previous Search Ads 360 won't be seen in the new Search Ads 360.

To keep the previous and the new Search Ads 360 in sync for other client accounts, the best practice is to create scheduled syncs for all of your external accounts in both the previous and the new Search Ads 360. The exception is for changes posted to a Google Ads account, which are automatically synced between the previous and the new Search Ads 360.

Labels

Labels are automatically synced between the previous and the new Search Ads 360. You can view the current migration status in the Experience hub. If there are any syncing issues, the Experience hub displays the number of errors.

You can manage labels in either the previous or the new Search Ads 360. Since labels can be applied to more items in the new Search Ads 360, you may notice reporting discrepancies with the previous Search Ads 360.

Formula columns and custom conversions columns (now "custom columns")

Formula columns and custom conversion columns are automatically synced between the previous and the new Search Ads 360. In the new Search Ads 360, they appear as custom columns under the sub-manager (advertiser) account level. Check the Experience hub for the current migration status.

Some columns may not be copied because they use functions of columns that aren't currently supported. If there are any syncing issues, the Experience hub displays the number of errors. You need to fix each error in either the previous or the new Search Ads 360, depending on where you find the column that caused the issue.

You can manage formula columns and custom conversion columns in either the previous or the new Search Ads 360, although there are some differences and new features in the new Search Ads 360.

Feed-based custom columns are copied to the new Templates > Feeds page. Once your account has access to Templates, the feed-based custom columns can be accessed when viewing data for a selected feed.

Business data (now "custom dimensions")

Business data is automatically synced between the previous and the new Search Ads 360. In the new Search Ads 360, it appears as custom dimensions. Check the Experience hub for the current migration status. If there are any syncing issues, the Experience hub displays the number of errors.

Business data tables that are using business events or referencing columns from other business data tables aren't synced to the new Search Ads 360, since these features are not supported by custom dimensions. Edit the affected business data tables in the previous Search Ads 360 and remove these columns to fix the business data sync errors.

You can manage business data in either the previous or the new Search Ads 360.

Scheduled report downloads (now "saved reports")

Scheduled report downloads are automatically copied to the new Search Ads 360 once. If you make subsequent changes in the previous Search Ads 360, you can copy those scheduled downloads by visiting the Experience hub. If there are any copying issues, the Experience hub displays the number of errors.

Scheduled downloads become saved reports in the new Search Ads 360, where you can change the email scheduling, but you can't edit the columns, filters, or segments. The copied scheduled downloads can be accessed from the Reports feature found in the main toolbar.

You can copy scheduled reports as many times as you like, but copying only works one-way.

Saved views

Saved views are automatically copied to the new Search Ads 360 once. If you make subsequent changes in the previous Search Ads 360, you can copy those saved views by visiting the Experience hub. If there are any copying issues, the Experience hub displays the number of errors.

You can migrate saved views as many times as you like, but copying only goes one-way and may not work for some unsupported columns. You can choose between copying all saved views from the previous Search Ads 360 and only newly created saved views.

Web queries

Web queries are automatically copied to the new Search Ads 360 once. If you make subsequent changes in the previous Search Ads 360, you can copy those web queries by visiting the Experience hub. If there are any copying issues, the Experience hub displays the number of errors.

New URLs are generated for the migrated web queries, which you should use to update your Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. The previous web query URLs will continue to work, but they will only access data from the previous Search Ads 360. The copied web queries, along with the new URLs for each copy, can be accessed from the Reports feature found in the main toolbar.
