If you can’t make or receive calls or have problems with mobile data, try the steps below.
Find call & mobile data diagnostics
Important:
- You can independently diagnose and possibly resolve call and mobile data issues with call and mobile data diagnostics.
- This feature is only available in the US for US subscribers on Pixel 11 phones.
With mobile data diagnostics, you can:
- Auto-detect and potentially resolve mobile data issues.
- Check and optimize device settings for best mobile data performance.
- Automatically run a speed test.
- Provide a detailed report on mobile data diagnostic results.
With call diagnostic features, you can:
- Auto-detect and potentially resolve call related issues.
- Check and optimize call settings for best call performance.
- Test both incoming and outgoing calls through a Google server.
- Provide a detailed report on call performance that includes a test call quality report.
To find calls and mobile data diagnostics:
- Open your phone's Settings app.
- Tap Settings
Device health & support.
- To start diagnostics, tap Call diagnostics or Mobile data diagnostics.
- To find overall insights, tap Connectivity health.

Learn what info is shared with GoogleIf you share diagnostics, your device can send:
- Your account info
- Your phone’s IMEI
- Your phone model like Pixel 11 or Pixel 11 Pro
- A user-session-ID number
- Results for outgoing and incoming test calls
- Call failure history
- Data speed test results
- Data connection status and history
- Connectivity-related setting states
Fix mobile data issues
Check mobile data settings- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap Network & Internet
SIMs.
- Make sure “Mobile data” is on.
- Tap your carrier’s name.
- Make sure “Use SIM” is on.
To turn off airplane mode:
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap Network & Internet.
- Turn off airplane mode.
Important:
- For some countries, options displayed under the preferred network type may vary.
- When 5G service isn’t available, Pixel phones with 5G fall back to 4G and lower networks. Find your phone’s configuration and capabilities in our tech specs.
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap Network & Internet
SIMs.
- Select your carrier.
- Select your preferred network type (based on carrier availability):
- 5G (recommended)
- 2G
- 3G
- LTE
To make sure you’re connected to your mobile network, turn off Wi-Fi.
- Tap Settings

Internet.
- Turn off Wi-Fi.
- On the top right corner of your Pixel, there should be a triangle icon that indicates the network signal strength. The more filled in the triangle is, the more signal strength your device has.
- If you have little to no signal, try switching the location.
- You can also contact your carrier to check how the coverage is in your area.
Important: While Pixel phones work with all major carriers, not all Pixel 4a (5G) and later phones work on all 5G networks. Check with your carrier to make sure your phone works on its 5G network. Learn which Pixel phones can work with which kinds of 5G.
Your phone model and carrier network determine the kind of 5G service you need. Some Pixel 4a (5G) phones work specifically with Verizon in the US.
A 5G icon in your status bar shows when your phone is within an area where 5G service is available. It doesn’t mean that your phone is getting 5G service at that time.
Try these steps:
- Turn off Battery Saver. Battery Saver turns off 5G. Learn more about Battery Saver.
- Some carrier networks offer 5G service in smaller areas than their other services. Check with your carrier for its 5G coverage area.
- Different carrier networks can offer different types of 5G. Speeds vary. Check with your carrier for its 5G type and speed.
Fix SIM card issues
Make sure your SIM is activated and inserted correctly- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap Network & Internet
SIMs.
- Select your carrier.
- If you already have a SIM, but it’s inactive, click SIM and turn on Use SIM.
- If your carrier name is in gray and there is the message “No SIM,” then you either don’t have a SIM or your SIM is inactive. To check, go to Settings

- If you don’t have a SIM activated yet, you can insert a physical SIM or download a SIM (based on carrier availability).
- Insert your SIM ejection tool or small paperclip into the SIM card tray hole.
- Firmly but gently push until the tray pops out.
- Remove the tray and take out the SIM card.
- Inspect the SIM card.
- If the SIM card is damaged or bent: Contact your carrier for a replacement SIM card.
- If you notice any dirt or dust: Wipe the SIM card with a microfiber cloth.
- Once the SIM card is clean and intact, put it back into the phone.
How to transfer a SIM during setup
- Have the other device near.
- Go through the setup flow.
- Choose the SIM you want to transfer.
- Tap Transfer
Activate.
- Wait for activation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Fix issues with eSIM transfer
If you encounter an issue when you transfer an eSIM, try again. For persistent issues, contact your carrier.

Convert a physical SIM to an eSIM
You can convert a physical SIM to an eSIM on the same device if you no longer want to rely on a physical card.
Important: To use this feature you need to:
- Check which wireless carriers offer cellular plans on an eSIM for Pixel in your country or region. Learn how to find worldwide wireless carriers & service providers of eSIM.
- Use Pixel 8 or later devices, including Fold.
- Connect to Wi-Fi.
To convert to an eSIM on your device:
- Open your device’s Settings app.
- Tap Network & internet
SIMs.
- Select the SIM that you want to convert.
- Scroll down your SIM settings.
- Tap Convert to eSIM.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Once you convert your physical SIM to an eSIM, your physical SIM will no longer work. You can discard your physical SIM once you verify your new eSIM works.
If you need a new physical SIM after your conversion, you must contact your carrier to re-issue one.
If you have another SIM card, you can try to install it into your Pixel.
Tip: If the issue persists and you have another phone, install the SIM card into the other phone to see if the issue is with the SIM card.
If you have an error message about your SIM, contact your carrier.

Fix Wi-Fi issues
Check Wi-Fi callingImportant: Not all carriers support Wi-Fi calling. To ensure that Wi-Fi calling is supported, check with your carrier.
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap Network & Internet
SIMs.
- Tap Wi-Fi calling.
- Turn on or off Use Wi-Fi calling.
- Place a test call.
When Wi-Fi calling is on, your phone can route calls via Wi-Fi networks or your carrier’s network based on your preference or signal strength. Before you turn on Wi-Fi calling, check with your carrier for fees and other details.
To turn off Bluetooth:
- Swipe down to open the notifications menu.
- Tap Bluetooth off if it’s on.
If you experience dropped calls or your phone struggles to maintain voice connection, your Voice over LTE (VoLTE) service may be disabled or unstable.
- Open your phone's Settings app.
- Tap Network & internet
SIMs.
- Select your carrier.
- Verify your VoLTE status.
Other steps to try
Check contact settingsFind whether a contact is blocked or being routed to voicemail.
- Open your Phone app

- Tap a contact.
- Scroll to “Contact settings.”
- Check if your contact is blocked.
- If your contact is blocked, tap Unblock numbers.
- Check if the “Send to voicemail” is turned on.
- If it's turned on, turn off Send to voicemail.
To check obstructions, remove the phone case if you have one.
Signal obstructions, like buildings, walls, and some phone cases, can interfere with mobile service, including 5G. Try to avoid or remove obstructions.
- Power off the phone.
- Tip: Do not select restart.
- Wait for 30 seconds, then turn the phone on .
- Test the phone.
Tip: You can also switch the airplane mode on and off to shut down the active processes.
To reset all mobile network settings:
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap System

To reset Bluetooth and WiFi settings:
Important: This option deletes your saved Wi-Fi connections.
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap System

Check that you have a current version of Android. Learn how to check and update your Android version.
If these steps don’t work, contact your carrier to check for any outages in your area and confirm that nothing has changed with your data plan.
Can't connect Pixel to the 5G network or experiencing connectivity issues
- For Pixel 6a, 7, and 7 Pro users who use TDC (Denmark) and ICE (Norway) networks:
- To connect your phone to the 5G network, make sure your phone has the latest system update.
- To install the update, tap Settings

- For Pixel 7 and 7 Pro: Install the system update when prompted during phone setup.
- For Pixel users who use OneCall and MyCall (Norway) networks:
- 5G services may not be available on all carrier networks and varies by country.
