My photos aren't backing up

If your device's photos and videos aren't being saved to your Google Account, check your backup status.

Check your back up status

  1. Open the Google Photos app .
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. Tap Photos .
  4. At the top, you'll see if your photos are backed up, or if it's still waiting to back up.

Check your back up settings

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. At the top, tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
  4. Tap Back up & sync. If it's on, you should see these options:
    • Account: Make sure that the account listed is the same one you're viewing in the Google Photos app. To see which account you're using, open the Google Photos Menu Menu. The email address will be at the top.
    • Back up device folders: Tap to back up a device folder with photos you've downloaded, screenshots, or photos from other apps.
    • Upload size: Tap to change the upload size of your photos & videos.

  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Select Photos .
  4. Tap Storage and then Clear data.
  5. Open the Google Photos app .
  6. Sign in to your Google Account.
  7. At the top, tap Menu Menu and then Settings and then Back up & sync.
  8. Turn on Back up & sync.
