    Restore recently deleted or archived items
    If you’re missing photos or videos, check your trash or archive. Check your trash If your missing item is in your trash, you may be able to restore it. Learn how to check your trash and restore recently deleted photos or videos. If your missing item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted. Learn when items are permanently deleted If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can’t restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if: You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago. You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash. You permanently deleted it from your trash. You permanently deleted it from your device’s Gallery app without backing it up first. Check your archive If your missing item is archived, you can unarchive it so it shows in your Google Photos library. Learn how to check your archive and unarchive items.     Check your backup
    Your missing photo or video may not be backed up to Google Photos. Your backup settings are important to how and when Google Photos backs up your items. Review backup settings Open the Google Photos app . At the top, tap Menu  Settings. Tap Back up & sync. Check your settings: Back up & sync: Make sure "Back up & sync" is turned on. Backup account: Make sure you back up your photos and videos to the right Google Account. Back up device folders: If you want to see photos and videos from other apps or devices in your Google Photos library, make sure you turn on your available device folders. When to back up: Make sure you know when Google Photos backs up your photos and videos. You can choose to back up items over mobile data. Tip: If you use an iPhone or iPad, don’t quit the Google Photos app while it’s backing up items. Learn more about back up & sync. Still missing photos or videos?     Find items from other apps & devices
    Note: These steps are available if you use Google Photos on an Android phone or tablet. If you’re missing photos or videos from other apps or devices, check your device folders. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app . At the top, tap Menu  Device folders. If available, open your device folders to find your missing item. If you want your device folder items to appear in your Google Photos library, you can back them up automatically. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app . At the top, tap Menu  Settings. Tap Back up & sync  Device folders. Note: If you delete an item from your device without backing up your device folders, the item will not appear in Google Photos.     To prevent missing photos or videos in the future, make sure: You keep your backup turned on, or understand how changing your backup settings impacts Google Photos. Learn more about backup. You don't permanently delete items, or misplace them in your archive. Learn more about trash and archive. You check your Google Photos device folders if you back up photos or videos from other apps.
