Get started with audio notification services via SoundPod by Google Pay

The SoundPod by Google Pay is part of audio notification services extended through a speaker device that alerts merchants to QR code payments (referred as “audio notification services/SoundPod service” hereinafter). When customers scan the associated QR code of the merchant and make a successful payment, SoundPod plays an instant voice notification.

Important: The audio notification services via SoundPod are being launched in phases. It may not yet be available in your region.

Avail audio notification services via SoundPod by Google Pay

  1. Open the Google Pay for Business app Google Pay.
  2. Start the subscription:
    • From the backsplash: At the top, below your business name, tap Get started.
    • Under “Quick links,” tap SoundPod.
  3. Tap See plans.
  4. Choose a service plan:
    • Daily plan: ₹499 Rupees one-time fee, then ₹5 Rupees per day is deducted for 25 days in a month from your settlement account.
    • Yearly plan: ₹1499 Rupees for one year (save ₹500 Rupees) is deducted from your settlement account.
    • Tip: The subscription chosen by you, from any of the above, for audio notification services runs from the date of activation and is provided annually. The above mentioned service plans are inclusive of taxes.
    • Tip: When you receive 400 payments in a month via GPay QR codes, ₹125 Rupees cashback is guaranteed.
  5. Tap Continue.
  6. Tap Turn on daily settlement.
  7. Select a payments profile.
    • Choose an existing profile: Tap the profile that you want to use.
    • Create a new profile: Tap Create payments profile. Then, enter the account information.
  8. Tap Submit.
  9. Review your subscription details and expected delivery date of the SoundPod.
  10. Tap Done.
Review SoundPod service subscription & service plan details

To review your SoundPod service subscription before the SoundPod arrives:

  1. Open the Google Pay for Business app Google Pay.
  2. At the top, find the card that says, "Your SoundPod is booked."
  3. Tap See details.
    • If you don’t find it: Under “Quick links,” tap SoundPod.

To check your SoundPod plan status and details after you set up the device:

  1. In the app, under “Quick links,” tap SoundPod.
  2. Review your plan details:
    • Plan status: Active or Inactive
    • Your plan: Daily or yearly payment plan and rates
    • Device ID
About your SoundPod service subscription

The SoundPod kit includes:

  • SoundPod speaker
  • Charging cable
  • SIM card
  • Custom QR code

The audio notification service comes with a 6-month service warranty. The service warranty starts on the day that the audio notification service via SoundPod is activated.

Once the audio notification service via SoundPod is activated , you won’t get a refund of the service fees already deducted.

Set up the SoundPod device to avail audio notification services

  1. To turn on the SoundPod device, press and hold the Power key for 3 seconds.
  2. When the SoundPod is on and connected, the green LED will glow.
  3. The SoundPod will show network strength with 4G.
  4. You’ll get 2 voice prompts: “Welcome to SoundPod by Google Pay” and “Network Connected.”

Once SoundPod is connected, the device will begin to notify you of successful transactions made via the QR code.

After you receive and set up SoundPod, you can review your chosen audio notification service plan status and details.

Operate SoundPod

The SoundPod by Google Pay has 4 keys:

  • Power: Press and hold to turn on the device.
  • Volume up:
    • Press to increase device volume.
    • Press and hold to increase to maximum volume.
  • Volume down:
    • Press to decrease device volume.
    • Press and hold to decrease to minimum volume.
  • Menu:
    • Press once to play the last transaction.
    • Press twice to play the last 3 transactions.
    • Press and hold to display the one-time password (OTP).
    • Press and hold the Menu + press the Volume up once to display its terminal ID (TID).
    • Press and hold the Menu + press the Volume up twice to display its Firmware version.

View & download invoices

To download invoices for fees for SoundPod services:

  1. In the Google Pay app, navigate to Invoices.
    • Option 1: Under “Quick links,” tap SoundPod. At the top right, tap More More and then Invoices.
    • Option 2: Go to Settings and then Invoices.
  2. To view invoices from SoundPod transactions only, tap SoundPod.
  3. Tap the invoice that you want to view.
  4. At the top right, tap Download Download documents.

View SoundPod transactions

You can view SoundPod transactions in the Google Pay for Business app.

Important: SoundPod transactions mean the service fees deducted for audio notification services provided via SoundPod.

The app homepage shows a transaction summary for a given time period.

  • To view a summary of the past day, week, or month, tap 1D, 7D, or 30D.
  • To view the details of a specific transaction, tap it.

You’ll find the audio notification service fee deductions in your transaction history with the label “SoundPod fee deduction.”

You can tap the transaction to view details about the deduction.

Cashback campaign for merchants availing audio notification services

To receive cashbacks, you should be actively availing audio notification services via SoundPod and you should accept equal to or more than 400 transactions via GPay QRs. Once the aforesaid requirements are met, You get cashbacks through a scratch card worth ₹125 Rupees in the “offers and rewards” section.

The scratch card is valid for 28 days. If it’s not redeemed within the validity period, the scratch card expires.

Important:

  • Only up to 30 transactions from a single user in a calendar month are counted for the campaign eligibility.
  • Failed transactions aren’t considered eligible transactions.
  • The campaign will be subject to additional terms as provided here.

Cancel audio notification services via SoundPod

To cancel audio notification service via SoundPod or get information about your canceled audio notification service, call Google customer support toll-free at +1-800-309-7597.

Important: If you cancel your subscription or Google cancels your subscription for any of the reasons provided below, you will not be entitled to a refund of the service fee already paid. You're responsible to return the SoundPod provided to you as part of the audio notification service with all other accessories in good working and fully functional condition to our agent. If you fail to return the Soundpod, Google reserves the right to take necessary action as permitted by law.

Audio notification services can be canceled for various reasons, including:

  • You asked customer support to cancel your audio notification services.
  • Google failed to collect service fees with daily settlements for 30 days from the day of first default.
  • Your merchant profile is inactive.
  • Your merchant account has been closed.
  • Your payments profile is inactive.
  • You breach Google Pay for Business Program: Additional Terms of Service.

FAQS

If I close my shop for 10 days, how will the service fee be deducted If I opted for daily plan?

If you temporarily close your shop, the reopen day's daily settlement will deduct service fee for the closed days and the day you reopen.

For example, if you close your shop for 10 days:

  • 10 days * ₹5 Rupees = ₹50 Rupees service fee owed
  • ₹5 Rupees service fee on Reopen date
  • Total ₹55 Rupees as service fee will be deducted from the daily settlement on the day you reopen
If I start the daily plan mid-month, how will the service fee be deducted?

Daily service fee begins on the day that you set up the audio notification services via SoundPod.

For example, if you set up your audio notification services via SoundPod on July 20, ₹5 Rupees fee (inclusive of taxes) daily from July 20 through July 31 and one-time fee of ₹499 Rupees (inclusive of taxes) will be debited at the time of daily settlement on the respective day from your Google Pay settlement account.

For subsequent months, service fee deductions on a daily basis (i.e. ₹5 Rupees) for audio notification services will start on the first of the month. They'll continue daily (except Sundays) until ₹125 Rupees has been paid.

How can I change the SoundPod notification language?

The SoundPod by Google Pay provided as a part of audio notification services supports multiple regional languages:

  • English
  • Hindi
  • Bengali
  • Marathi
  • Tamil
  • Gujarati
  • Kannada

To toggle between English and Hindi:

  1. To enter Menu mode,press and hold the Menu button.
  2. To navigate the language menu, press the Volume up button.
  3. To enter Language Menu mode, press and hold the Menu button.
  4. To navigate the language from “English” to “Hindi” or vice versa, press the Volume up button.
  5. To set any language, double press the Menu button This needs to be done within 4 seconds or it will go back to the existing setting.

Tip: By default, the SoundPods are available in English and Hindi languages. If you want to switch to a regional language such as Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Gujarati, or Kannada, you can change the language at the time of installation.

If there are any disruptions in the audio notification services due to some damage or issue with functioning of the SoundPod device, will I be charged for device replacement?

If the device stops functioning, please contact support.

If you raise a complaint within the service warranty period for manufacturing defect or damage that isn't attributable to you, no charges will be levied for the replacement support services. Post warranty period, if the device must be replaced, you'll be charged ₹400 Rupees inclusive of taxes for the new device.

The service warranty for audio notification service is 6-months from the date of set up.

The warranty covers:

  • Manufacturing defects and damage that is not attributable to you

However, the warranty doesn’t cover any damage from:

  • Water exposure
  • Drops
  • Incorrect power supply
  • Other misuse or tampering attributable to you

Google or its authorized representative’s decision on the damage being attributable to you or not will be final.

I received a damaged SoundPod, what do I do?

If you receive a damaged SoundPod device, you must contact support within 48 hours or 2 days from the date of deployment and share images of the damaged device within 4 days or 72 hours from the date of deployment. You'll get a replacement device if the device is termed as defective by our specialist team.

I want to cancel the audio notification services and return SoundPod, how will I get a refund?

There are no refunds after the audio notification services are set up. If you wish to still cancel the services and return the Soundpod device, agents will collect the device after a cancellation request is raised.
