How to fix: Inaccurate subscription costs

Your account has either been warned or suspended due to this error

For one or more of your products, the subscription costs in your product data do not match the subscription costs on your product landing pages or at checkout on your website. Google requires merchants to provide users with complete and correct subscription information and costs.

You should have received an email asking you to update your product data by a certain date so that the values in your data are consistent with those on your landing page. Check the subscription cost [subscription_cost] attribute to learn how to submit products with a subscription plan. Make sure to review the best practices for listing wireless products and services.

When providing the subscription cost in your product data, ensure the following:

  • Use the subscription cost [subscription_cost] attribute to include the details of a monthly or annual payment plan that bundles a communications service contract with your wireless product (mobile phone or tablet).
  • Submit the price [price] attribute with the total amount due at checkout (including down payment and activation fee) for the product.
  • Match the subscription payment plan displayed on the landing page. You can also display other subscription options on your landing page, but the plan you submit should be easy to find on the landing page.
  • Don’t require that users have a loyalty card to choose the service plan.
  • Don't use the subscription cost [subscription_cost] attribute for software subscriptions. Software subscriptions must be prepaid and submitted using the yearly prepaid cost as the price [price] attribute.
  • Use the subscription cost [subscription_cost] attribute in approved countries only. Use of this attribute in unapproved countries will cause disapproval.
  • Use the subscription cost [subscription_cost] attribute for approved product categories only. Use of this attribute for other categories of products will cause disapproval.
  • If the subscription cost for your product increases after a certain time, then you must use the highest payment for the amount [amount] sub-attribute. For example, if the subscription payment increases from $25 USD to $35 USD after 12 months, then specify $35 USD.

Note that the subscription costs data in your product data or on your website may not match if you made changes on your website and did not update your product data in Shopping ads. You may also choose to overestimate your subscription costs in your product data.

Instructions

Step 1: Check that your product data matches the subscription cost on your site

  1. Investigate your update process to see what could be causing the problem:
    • Check the warning email for examples of products that are affected. Look for a common problem in your product data that could cause the problem.
  2. Once you’ve addressed the problem, update the subscription cost [subscription_cost] attribute in your product data.

Step 2: Resubmit your product data

After you’ve fixed the issue and updated your product data, resubmit it using one of these methods:

Step 3: Request a review

In some instances, if your account or one of your product offers is disapproved and you’ve either fixed the issue or you disagree with the issue, you can request a review. If the review is successful, your issue will disappear. If the disapproval remains and you’re uncertain with how to proceed, contact us for support.

Note: If you use a third-party platform to list your products, you may also be able to go to your third-party application to request a review.
