Do I need a certain level of access to delete my account?
Yes, an admin user will need to delete your Merchant Center account.
If I delete my account, may I create a different account for my business?
Yes, you may create a new Merchant Center account at any time.
What if I can't find my Merchant Center account? If you're unable to find your Merchant Center account, it might have been canceled or deleted. Another possibility is that it was a sub-account under a Multi-Client Account (MCA) that has since been closed. If you believe the account should exist, try to recall the MCID and the email address associated with it. Having a screenshot of any account evidence can also be helpful if you need to contact support.
What if I can't delete my Merchant Center account because it's a sub-account? If your Merchant Center account is a sub-account linked to a Multi-Client Account (MCA) or a third-party platform, you'll need to have it unlinked first. Contact the administrator of the MCA or the third-party platform to request unlinking. After your account is unlinked, it becomes a standalone account, and you can then follow the steps in this article to delete it.
Before you delete your Merchant Center account
When you delete your account, your access to all data and transactions will be disabled. So, before deleting your account:
- Download any product data, reports, or other assets you'd like to retain
- Process or cancel any active transactions
How it works
An admin user will need to delete the Merchant Center account. When this is done, users on the account will be notified via email that the account has been deleted. All users will lose access to the account immediately.
Shopping ads and other Merchant Center features will be deactivated within 48 hours. Any other products that you've linked to this account will no longer be linked.
How to delete your standalone Merchant Center account
These steps apply if your account is a standalone account and not a sub-account of a Multi-Client Account (MCA).
- In your Merchant Center account, select Settings
in the left navigation menu.
- Select General.
- Under the "Account setup" tab, scroll down and select Close Merchant Center account.
- Review the disclaimer and select “Yes, I want to permanently close this Merchant Center account”.
- Choose Close Merchant Center account.
Important: Before proceeding, ensure you have downloaded any data you wish to keep and processed or canceled any active transactions.
If you cannot find the option to close the account, it might be a sub-account linked to an MCA or a third-party platform. In this case, you must first contact the MCA administrator or the third-party platform to unlink your account. After your account is unlinked, it becomes a standalone account, and you can then follow the steps above.
