Get Started with Meet

Use Hangouts Meet to hold video meetings with people inside or outside of your organization. You can join from a computer, mobile device, or conference room.

A G Suite administrator needs to turn on Meet for your organization. If you cannot open Meet, contact your admin for help.

Before you begin

  • To create a video meeting, you need a G Suite account.
  • To join a video meeting, you need the Meet mobile app or a supported web browser. You do not need a G Suite account. For details, see Supported web browsers.

Schedule meetings
If you schedule a meeting in Google Calendar, the event includes a Meet video meeting link. Video meetings also have a dial-in number for people to call in for audio access. You can also add someone by phone to a video meeting.

Using the mobile app or a supported browser, you can create a meeting and invite others to join without scheduling it in advance.
Dial in from a phone
When you start or create an event for a video meeting, a phone number and PIN is automatically added to the meeting. Anyone can use the number to dial in (including external users and people using other G Suite editions).
All G Suite editions include a U.S. phone number. G Suite Basic, Business, Enterprise, and Enterprise for Education editions also support international numbers. Regular call charges apply.
Invite people inside or outside your organization
You can schedule a meeting using Google Calendar or invite people after you join the meeting.
Meeting size and limitations
You can create and join video meetings from a mobile device, computer, or conference room. The number of participants that you can have in a meeting that you create depends on your G Suite edition.

Share your screen
While in a meeting, you can share your screen to present slides or other information on your computer.
Record a meeting
If you're the meeting organizer or in the organizer's domain, you can record video meetings for other people to watch later.
Use multiple devices
Scheduled meetings appear automatically across devices, so you can start a meeting on your computer and continue on another device, such as your phone.

Switching from classic Hangouts
G Suite administrators can turn Meet on or off for your organization and control other settings. If Meet is turned on, all new Calendar events include a link to a Meet video meeting. One-time Calendar events with links to classic Hangouts video calls do not change. If your admin does not turn on Meet, you can still join a Meet video meeting using the link in the meeting invitation. If you're not sure if your organization is using Meet, ask your admin.
