Set up payments for Google Assistant on speaker or display

Set up payment information and addresses for your packages and other purchases.

Important: This feature isn’t available in all countries.

Set up payments

To start using payments with Google Assistant on Google Nest or Home speaker or display, you must set up your payment preferences. Important: These payment settings affect the Google Assistant on your speaker or display, and Pixel. Settings for other Google products, like Google Play, Google Shopping, or YouTube, aren't affected.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, tap your account.
  3.  Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Google device. If correct, tap to close the account window. To switch accounts, tap the dropdown icon , then tap another account or Add another account.

  4. Tap Assistant settings  Payments and then Next.
  5. Enter your payment method details and then follow the in-app steps.

Change payment settings

You can adjust your payments settings or turn off payments from the Google Home app.

Change default payment method

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, tap your account.
  3. Tap Assistant settings and then Payments and then Payment method.
  4. Choose a different payment method or tap Add credit or debit card to add a payment method. The card you choose will be your default payment method.

Change default delivery address

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, tap your account.
  3. Tap Assistant settings and then Payments and then Delivery address.
  4. Choose a different delivery address or tap Add new address to add an address. The address you choose will be your default delivery address.

Approve purchases

You can change how you want to approve your purchases from the Google Home app.

Pay hands-free

When this feature is turned on, your purchases are automatically approved as long as your mobile device is unlocked.

Note: This feature is currently available in the US only.

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. At the top right, tap your account.
  4. Tap Assistant settings and then Payments.
  5. Under “Pay hands-free,” turn on Pay when unlocked or Pay through Android Auto.

Approve purchases with Voice Match

Turn on Pay with Voice Match to approve purchases on your speaker or display.

Note: This feature is currently available in the US only.

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. At the top right, tap your account.
  4. Tap Assistant settings and then Payments.
  5. Turn on Pay with Voice Match.

Approve purchases with your fingerprint or face

This feature is available in countries outside of the US.

Note: If you don’t use your fingerprint, you’ll be asked to approve purchases with your Google Account password.

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. At the top right, tap your account.
  4. Tap Assistant settings and then Payments
  5. Turn on Confirm with fingerprint or face.

Turn payments on or off

Turn payments on or off for Google Assistant on all devices

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, tap your account.
  3. Tap Assistant settings  Payments.
  4. Turn Pay through your Assistant on or off.

Turn on payments for a specific speaker or display

  1. Make sure that your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app .
  3. At the top-right corner of the screen, tap your account.
  4. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your display. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account.

  5. Go back to the home screen Home.
  6. Tap and hold your device's tile.
  7. At the top-right corner, tap Settings  and then Recognition and sharing and then Recognition and personalisation and then turn on Allow personal results.
