Project Fi group plan

You can add up to 5 friends and family members to your Project Fi group plan (for a total of 6 people), making it easier to pay your bill, track data usage, and manage settings for everyone on your plan all from one place.

Invite members or accept an invitation

If you're new to Project Fi, you can start a group plan when you sign up. Otherwise, you'll be able to start a group plan and invite people on the Project Fi website under Account and then Manage Plan and then Add a Person. You'll be notified by email when individuals accept your invitation to join your group.

If someone invites you to join their group, you'll get an email with information on how to accept. You can keep your device protection if your device is already enrolled. If your device is financed, you'll have to pay off any outstanding amount before you can join a group plan.

Billing

Fi Basics for the group plan owner is $20/month and each additional group member is $15/month.  Data is $10/GB for all group members. Your group's owner will receive and pay a single bill each month that includes each member's Fi Basics and data usage. Any device financing and device protection payments will be charged to the group plan owner.

Member roles and controls

Each member of your Project Fi group has different levels of access and control over the account depending on their role.

Owner

Your group's owner is the primary member of your group. The owner is responsible for making all your group's payments and handling all billing options. Your group's owner can also:
  • Assign different roles for any member.
  • Add and remove members.
  • See every member's current cycle details, including international call logs.
  • Edit any member’s data plan and international settings.
  • Set and receive notifications for every member's data usage limits.
  • Pause Project Fi service for any member.
  • Pause Project Fi cellular data service for any member.
  • Start device protection for any of their own purchases.
  • File claims for and cancel a device protection plan under their name.

Your group can only have one owner and cannot be changed to another user.

Manager

Your group owner can assign the role of manager to one or more members of your group. Group managers can:
  • Add and remove members.
  • See every member's current cycle details, including international call logs.
  • Edit any member’s data plan and international settings.
  • Set and receive notifications for every member's data usage limits.
  • Pause Project Fi service for any member.
  • Pause Project Fi cellular data service for any member.
  • File claims for and cancel a device protection plan under their name that they got before joining your group.

Member

If you (or anyone in your group) aren't the owner or a manager, you're a group member. Group members can:
  • See their own current cycle details, including call logs.
  • Edit their own call and message settings.
  • See their data usage limits and receive notifications.
  • Pause or cancel their own Project Fi service.
  • File claims for a device protection plan under their name that they got before joining your group.
  • Cancel any existing device protection plans under their name that they got before joining your group.
