Delete your child's Google Account

You can delete your child’s Google Account if they are under 13 (or the applicable age in your country). You can also remove your child’s Google Account from Android devices using Family Link.

Delete your child's account

When you delete your child's Google Account, they'll lose all the information saved to their Google Account, like photos, emails, and documents. Learn more about what happens when a Google Account is deleted.

Note: This option is not available if your child is over 13 (or the applicable age in your country).

  1. Remove your child’s account from Android devices they’re signed in to. Important: If you delete your child’s account before removing it from their Android device, the device will be locked.
    • If they aren’t signed in to any Android devices, move on to step 2.
  2. On your device, open the Family Link app Family Link.
  3. Select your child.
  4. Tap Manage settings and then Account info and then Delete account.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to finish deleting your child’s account.

Note: You can also delete your child’s account by clicking on your child's name at families.google.com. You may need to sign in to your parental Google Account.

Undelete your child's account

Note: This option is only available if you created your child’s Google Account for them and they’re under 13 (or the applicable age in your country).

If you delete your child's Google Account, you can undelete it for a short time.

  1. While signed in to your Google Account, visit your Family Group page.
    • Note: If you deleted your child’s Google account and your family group, your child’s account can’t be recovered.
  2. Select Menu Menu and then Click Recover kid's deleted account and then Recover.

Remove your child’s account from an Android device

When you remove your child's account from the device, information associated with that account is deleted from the device, including emails, contacts, device settings, and parent supervision settings.

Use the Family Link app on your child’s device

Note: If you added supervision to your child’s previously existing Google Account, you’ll need their help to do this.

  1. On your child's Android device, open the Family Link app Family Link.
  2. In the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Remove account and then Remove account.
  3. Select your email address, then enter your password.

If your child's device isn't connected to the Internet, use a parent access code to remove their account.

Use the Family Link app on your device

  1. On your parent device, open the Family Link app Family Link.
  2. Select your child.
  3. Scroll down to the card for your child’s Android device.
  4. Tap Settings and then Reset device & delete data.

Note: You can also remove your child’s account from an Android device by clicking on your child’s name at families.google.com. You may need to sign in to your parental Google Account.

Use the Android Settings app

Note: If you added supervision to your child’s previously existing Google Account, you’ll need their help to do this.

  1. On your child’s device, open the Settings app Settings.
  2. Tap Users & accounts and then the Google Account you want to remove and then Remove account.
    • If you don't see Remove account: At the top right, tap More More and then Remove account.
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen to finish removing your child's account.
