Download a report

To analyze your account's performance offline and integate the data with your own reporting systems, you can download performance data from DoubleClick Search to a spreadsheet in one of several formats.

By default, the download contains the same data that you see in the DS reporting table, along with additional columns for editing campaign, ad group, or other settings (depending on which report you're downloading). You can customize the data that will be downloaded, and you can schedule the report to download automatically on a recurring basis.

The following table shows which download settings are available based on the object you're scoped to and objects that you're including in the download:

  • File format: You'll either be able to select from Excel CSV/Comma CSV or XLSX/XLS/Excel CSV/Comma CSV.
  • Editable files: The option to select editable columns.
  • UI download/Email: The report will either be emailed, or we'll download the file in the UI.

Download a report

  1. Navigate to a reporting table.
    For example, to report on the performance of a campaign's keywords, navigate to a campaign and click the Keywords tab.

  2. Make any adjustments to the data that the reporting table displays. For example:

  3. Click Download in the toolbar above the reporting table.

  4. In the download panel, optionally make adjustments to the data that will be downloaded:

    • Use the Scope list to change the report's scope.
      If you don't change this option, the download includes only the data within the scope of the current reporting table. For example, if you navigated to a campaign and clicked the Keywords tab, the report will only contain data for the current campaign.

    • Use the Format list to select the file type for your report.

    • Use the Columns list to select the columns you want in the download:

      • Editable columns (for re-upload): Exports a file that includes columns you can use to edit the settings of the items in the report. You can then make changes in the file and upload it back into DoubleClick Search.

      • Currently visible in table (for reporting): Exports a file that contains all the columns that appear in the reporting table.

      • All columns (for expanded reporting): Exports a file that contains all the possible columns for the campaigns, ad groups, ads, or keywords, even if they don't appear in the reporting table.

    • Next to Include types, you can change the types of objects that will be included in the report. For example, if you select keywords and ads, there will be a separate row in the report for each ad and keyword in the report's scope.

    • Deselect the Include rows with no impressions check box to exclude the rows of data that have no associated visits or impressions. This is an easy way to streamline the data that appears in your reports by making one click directly in the download panel. For example, if a campaign is paused, its keywords still have rows in a downloaded report. If you deselect this check box, DS will exclude these rows that have no activity.

  5. Select the Email report check box if you want to receive the report in an email instead of downloading it to your browser's download directory.
    DS sends an email to the addresses you specify when it finishes generating the report. The email contains a download link.

    If you want the email to contain the report as an attachment instead of containing a download link, select the Include this file as an attachment check box.

  6. Optionally click Schedule download and set up a schedule to deliver reports on a regular basis.

  7. Click Download.
    DS generates the report and either downloads the file to your browser's download directory or sends an email, depending on the delivery option you selected.

    If you selected to download a report and the report is very large, it may take awhile for DS to generate the report. You can still use DS while the report is generating. A status bar indicates the progress of the report generation. When it's complete, a Download link appears in the status bar. Click the link to download the report.

Known issue

Large Excel downloads (with 100,000 or more rows) only work for reports that you receive by email; they won’t work for reports that are downloaded directly in the UI.
