You can view your favorite videos, photos, and websites on your TV using Chromecast.
Before you set up
For Chromecast to work on your Chromebook, you'll need:
- Chromecast or Android TV
- The newest version of ChromeOS. Learn how to update your Chromebook software.
- A TV with HDMI input
Set up Chromecast with your Chromebook
- Turn on your TV.
- Plug in your Chromecast. Learn how to plug your Chromecast in to your TV.
- Using the Input or Source button on your TV remote, change the input on your TV until you see the Chromecast home screen.
- On your Chromebook, sign in to your account.
- Follow the steps that show on your TV. Learn how to set up Chromecast.
Cast from your Chromebook
Cast from Chrome
- Open Chrome
.
- At the top right, select More
Cast.
- Select Cast to.
- Choose whether you’d like to share your current tab in Chrome (Cast tab) or your whole screen (Cast desktop).
- Select your Chromecast.
To stop sharing, select Stop.
Cast from your desktop
- At the bottom right, select the time.
- Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on. Learn how to connect to Wi-Fi.
- Make sure Bluetooth is turned on. Learn how to turn on Bluetooth.
- Select Cast devices available.
- Select your Chromecast.
- Choose what you’d like to share.
- Select Share. The window will appear on your TV screen.
To stop sharing your screen:
- At the bottom right, select the time.
- Next to "Casting screen," select Stop.
Cast videos stored on Google Drive
- In the corner of your screen, select the Launcher
.
- Select Files
.
- Select My Drive.
- Find your video file, then double-click it.
- In the window that opens, at the bottom right, select Cast
.
- Choose your Chromecast.
To stop sharing your video, click Cast
Stop.
Fix problems with Chromecast
- If your Chromecast won’t connect to your Wi-Fi network, check if your router is compatible with Chromecast.
- If you see "No Cast devices found," learn how to fix the "No Cast devices found" error.
