There are two options if your web platform doesn't accept a "G-" ID:
- Paste the entire global site tag into your web platform's custom HTML field
- Create a Universal Analytics property for your website and use the provided "UA-" ID
Paste the entire tag into your web platform's custom HTML field
Check if your website platform offers a way to paste in your entire Analytics tag, rather than just your "UA-" ID. Many website platforms offer a custom HTML field that allows you to paste in the entire tag. If this option is available, find your tag in Google Analytics:
- Click Admin.
- In the Property column, click Data Streams, then Web. Click the data stream.
- Under Tagging Instructions, click Add new on-page tag and look for "Global Site Tag (gtag.js)". Your Analytics page tag is the entire section of code that appears, beginning with:

Copy and paste your entire Google Analytics page tag to your website using your CMS' custom HTML feature. Follow your CMS' instructions on how to do this below:
Create a Universal Analytics property and use the provided "UA-" ID
If your web platform does not provide a way to paste in your entire tag, you'll need to use a Universal Analytics property for your website instead of a Google Analytics 4 property. If you previously set up a Universal Analytics property for this website, you can access it via the property selector or the Admin.
If you don't have a Universal Analytics property, create one.
Once you have created the property, find your "UA-" as follows. In Admin, In the Property column, click Tracking Info then Tracking Code. Your “UA-” ID appears in the upper left portion of the panel.
