About goals in AdWords Express

In AdWords Express, a goal represents the main activity that you want potential customers to do after seeing your ad.

When you create an ad in AdWords Express, you can choose one of the following goals:

  • Call your business: Pick this goal if you would like potential customers to phone your business. This goal might be a good fit for your business if you want to talk to customers before setting up appointments or bookings. For example, this could be a good choice if you run a beauty salon or a dog-walking business.

With this goal, AdWords Express will optimize your ad to encourage potential customers to call you. AdWords Express will also change more of your ads to include a prominent “Call” button that connects with your business phone number.

  • Visit your business: Pick this goal if you would like potential customers to visit you in person. This goal might be a good fit for your business if you have a physical location that you want customers to visit. For example, this could be a good choice if you own a restaurant, coffee shop, or clothing boutique.

With this goal, AdWords Express will optimize your ad to encourage potential customers to visit your business. AdWords Express will also show you how many customers interacted with your business on Google Maps as a result of your ad.

  • Take an action on your website: Pick this goal if you would like potential customers to complete a trackable action (for example, a purchase or sign-up) on your website. For example, this could be a good choice if you have an online shopping website or want to encourage customers to sign up for an email newsletter or fitness classes.

With this goal, AdWords Express will optimize your ad to encourage customers to make online transactions. AdWords Express will also help you set up Google Analytics to track customers and their purchases on your site.

Tip

While you can choose only one goal per ad, you can create multiple ads if you have more than one goal for your business.
