View your cost and payment history

Your billing summary is full of details about your advertising costs and payment information. Here, you'll find a table with this information that you can sort, click on for more details, or simply print.

 

The costs reflected on your billing summary page apply only to your AdWords Express ads. If you have AdWords ads as well, they won’t be shown here. Follow the steps below to access your billing summary.

  1. Sign in to your AdWords Express account at http://adwords.google.com/express/
  2. At the top right corner, click the gear icon and select Billing from the dropdown menu.
  3. You’ll be taken to your “Transaction history”, where you can print and download invoices, sort your account’s payment information, and view your ad activity.

Print, export, and download information or an invoice

In your “Transaction history”, click the Export button with the Download Icon download icon to do one of the following:

  • Print selected history: Print the information in the table below.
  • Export as .csv: Download information about costs and payments to a .csv file.

  1. Sign in to your AdWords Express account at http://adwords.google.com/express/
  2. At the top right corner, click the gear icon and select Billing from the dropdown menu.
  3. Set the date range you'd like from the drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
  4. Click the invoice number next to the date range in the table. Remember that an invoice for a particular month is available after the first day of the following month. Your April invoice, for example, will be ready in May. Also, invoices aren't generated if there weren't any payment requests. The invoice will open in a new browser window.
  5. To print the invoice, select File and then Print from the browser menu (make sure you have pop-up windows enabled in your web browser) or right click on the invoice link to select the print option.
  6. Repeat steps three through six to print invoices for other months.

Filter your information

You can filter your information, based on what you'd like to see. Just look to the toolbar on your Transaction history page to choose whether you'd like to see a Summary or Detailed view.

Summary view

In the table's Summary view, the information is grouped by transaction type so that you can see things like costs, payments, and adjustments at a quick glance. Here are your filtering options:

  • Starting balance: Your balance on the first day of the date range and on the first day of each following calendar month.
  • Costs: The combined costs for all your campaigns on a particular day.
  • Payments: The amount of your payments and any adjustments applied to your account.
  • Balance: The relationship between how much you've accrued in advertising costs and how much you've paid. Every amount in the Debits column increases your balance (meaning you owe more), while every amount in the Credits column decreases your balance (meaning you owe less). The balance represents the difference.
  • Taxes (VAT): The applicable taxes or Value Added Tax that applies to your account.
Detailed view

In Detailed view, you can see your account billing activity detailed by day. No line item will be shown for days in which no activity occurred. Here's what you'll see:

  • Starting balance: Your balance on the first day of the date range and on the first day of each following calendar month.
  • Costs: The combined costs for all your ads on a particular day.
  • Payments: The amount of your payments and any adjustments applied to your account.
  • Adjustments: Usually, any credits applied to your account.
  • Balance: The relationship between how much you've accrued in advertising costs and how much you've paid. Every amount in the Debits column increases your balance (meaning you owe more), while every amount in the Credits column decreases your balance (meaning you owe less). The balance represents the difference.
  • Campaign activity: The number of billable clicks or impressions that your campaigns accrued that day.
  • Automatic payment scheduled: An automatic bank account payment will take place in the next few days. This status shows only for accounts on automatic payments with a bank account assigned as the primary form of payment. Once the payment has been completed, it'll show as Automatic payment.
  • In progress: A cost, payment, or adjustment is underway. Once the payment has been completed, it'll show as Payment or Automatic payment.
  • Payment: A payment you've initiated that's been applied to your account.
  • Automatic payment: An automatic payment has been applied to your account.
  • Payment declined: A payment you attempted to make wasn't successful because your bank declined the payment.
  • Automatic payment declined: An automatic payment we attempted wasn't successful -- if your bank declined the payment, for example. This will only show for credit card declines. For direct debit declines, it would say "Automatic payment canceled."
  • Automatic payment canceled: A direct debit payment initiated by Google was canceled by your bank. You'll see a corresponding "Automatic payment" line item where we first credit the money to your account. With the Automatic payment canceled line item, we debit your account to balance out the payment that was initially credited to your account.
  • Service adjustment: A promotional or courtesy credit applied by an AdWords Express Specialist. Or the amount refunded to your account if we find that you've been charged for invalid clicks.
  • Payment failed: This happens very rarely, and it means that a payment you initiated failed on Google's side. Please try again. If your payments keep failing, please contact support.
  • Automatic payment failed: This happens very rarely, and it means that a payment initiated by Google failed on Google's side. If this happens, we'll try to make the payment again.
  • Payment refunded: A payment you initiated was refunded back to your credit card or bank account.
More filtering options
  • Filter by date range: Just look to the top right of the page, and you'll see a drop-down menu that lets you adjust your information by certain time periods.
  • Filter by transaction types: Choose an option from the toolbar to filter your information by all transactions, costs, earnings, payments, adjustments, and taxes.
