Product Linking: Link Salesforce and Google Ads accounts

The 'Linked Accounts' page under Admin Admin Icon has been moved to 'Data Manager' under Tools Tools Icon. Google Ads Data Manager is a data import and management tool with a point-and-click experience that lets you bring your customer data from outside of Google and activate it in Google Ads. Learn more About Data Manager.

If you track leads and opportunities in Salesforce’s Sales Cloud, linking your Google Ads account to Salesforce will let you import your offline conversions from Salesforce's Sales Cloud into Google Ads. This will help you better measure how your online Google Ads investments are generating offline value.

This article shows you how to link and unlink your Google Ads and Salesforce accounts. To learn more about other steps you’ll need to take for importing conversions, read Import conversions from Salesforce.

Tip: Cross-account conversion tracking

If you use cross-account conversion tracking on your manager account (MCC), you must link your Salesforce account with your manager account. Otherwise, feel free to link with your non-manager account.

Before you begin

To link Google Ads to Salesforce, you’ll need administrative access to a Google Ads account, as well as a Salesforce account that meets specific minimum permission requirements. You should also use a dedicated Salesforce login, instead of your own personal login. For unlinking and editing an existing link from Google Ads, only administrative access to a Google Ads account is required.

Instructions

How to link your Google Ads and Salesforce accounts

Note: The instructions below are part of the new design for the Google Ads user experience. To use the previous design, click the 'Appearance' icon, and select Use previous design. If you're using the previous version of Google Ads, review the Quick reference map or use the Search bar in the top navigation panel of Google Ads to find the page that you’re searching for.
  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Admin icon Admin Icon.
  2. Click Linked accounts.
  3. If you’re linking Google Ads to a Salesforce account for the first time, go to 'From Google' and under 'Salesforce', click Details and then click Link Salesforce.
    • If you’ve linked a Salesforce account previously, under 'Your linked accounts and products', next to 'Salesforce', click Manage and link. Then under 'Actions', click Manage.
  4. After you click Link Salesforce, you can choose 'Salesforce Direct Linking' for offline conversions import.
  5. You’ll be taken to a Salesforce login page (you’ll need to disable your pop-up blockers to view this window). Enter the credentials for your Salesforce account and click Log in.
  6. You’ll then be asked if you want to allow the Google Ads Conversion Import app to access parts of your Salesforce account in order to link the accounts. Click Allow.
  7. The account will show in the table with 'Not configured' in the 'Status' column. Follow these steps to configure your account:
    1. Point your cursor over the 'Not configured' status.
    2. In the pop-up window that appears, click Configure. This opens a page where you can choose which Salesforce Cloud events to import as conversion actions.
    3. Associate conversion actions with your Salesforce events. Follow the steps in step 6 of Import conversions from Salesforce.
  8. Return to your linked accounts page for Salesforce and refresh the page. The account that you just configured should now show 'Linked' in the 'Status' column. If the link between the Salesforce account and the Google Ads account isn’t working properly, the status will be 'Disabled'. Point your cursor over the status to see why the link is disabled.

How to unlink Salesforce and Google Ads accounts

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Admin icon Admin Icon.
  2. Click Linked accounts.
  3. Under 'Your linked accounts and products', click Manage and link next to 'Salesforce'.
  4. Find the account that you want to unlink, and click Unlink in the 'Actions' column.
  5. Click Unlink in the confirmation screen.

If you want to relink this account, you’ll be able to do so by clicking Relink in the 'Actions' column for the account. You won’t have to reconfigure your Salesforce account.
