Manager Accounts (MCC): About labels in manager accounts

In your manager account, you’ll notice 2 types of labels:

  1. “Labels”: Created and assigned to campaigns at the individual Google Ads account level
  2. “Account labels”: Created and assigned to accounts at the manager account level

This article explains the difference between labels and account labels and shows you how to view them in your manager account.

Labels

In your manager account, you can see labels that are created and assigned for campaigns in individual Google Ads accounts. You can view these labels in the Labels column of your account’s Campaigns page. You can also filter your view in the Campaigns page to see only campaigns with specific labels.

Note: As a manager account (MCC) user, you can manage campaigns more efficiently by creating, editing, and applying labels to specific child accounts or across all campaigns. You can also create and manage labels anywhere along the path of a manager account to a child account level.

Account labels

Account labels are created by a manager account and assigned to sub-manager accounts or individual Google Ads accounts. You can use them to help create meaningful groupings of client accounts. Note that only manager accounts can view account labels; they can’t be created or viewed at the individual Google Ads account level.

View or filter by campaign and account labels

Note: The instructions below are part of the new design for the Google Ads user experience. To use the previous design, click the "Appearance" icon, and select Use previous design. If you're using the previous version of Google Ads, review the Quick reference map or use the Search bar in the top navigation panel of Google Ads to find the page you’re searching for.

Campaign labels

To help keep track of campaigns across accounts, you can view the labels assigned to campaigns in the “Labels” column of your manager account’s Campaigns page. You can also create filters to see only campaigns with specific labels.

To filter the campaigns you see by campaign label:

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads manager account.
  2. Click the Campaigns icon Campaigns Icon, then click the "Campaigns" dropdown to open the Campaigns page.
  3. Click the filter icon Filter, then click Label in the menu.
  4. Check the box next to labels you want to filter by. You can also search for labels at the top.
  5. Click Apply.


Account labels

To view account labels, click Accounts in the page menu on the left. You can see the “Account labels” column in the Performance, Sub-account settings, and Budgets pages of your manager account, or any linked manager account.

To filter the accounts you see by account labels:

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads manager account.
  2. From the page menu on the left, click Accounts Accounts icon..
  3. Click the filter icon Filter, then click Account labels in the menu.
  4. Check the box next to the account label you want to filter by. You can also search for account labels at the top.
