In March 2016, the policy regarding misleading or unrealistic promotions will be updated to make our Google Ads policies better address the concerns of our users in the health space.
Weight loss restrictions
What is happening: We will restrict the use of weight loss statements to advertisers who promote diet or exercise programs, psychotherapy, or surgical solutions. We value the experience of our users and want to be fully confident that they are not misled about the results they can expect from products or services they purchase.
What you need to do: If you are an advertiser making weight loss statements for products that are not diet programs, exercise, surgery, or psychotherapy, you will need to remove weight loss statements from your ads and landing pages. Review the policy and make sure that your ads and website will meet these requirements when the change goes into effect.
Google requires that advertisers comply with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as Google Ads policies, at all times, so it’s important that you keep up to date on these requirements for the places where your business operates, as well as any other places your ads are showing.
