Updates to Healthcare and Medicines Policy (December 2020)

In December 2020, Google will update the Healthcare and medicines policy for Hungary, Russia, and Germany.

Hungary

We will begin to allow the promotion of over-the-counter medicines by pharmaceutical manufacturers who comply with local regulations.

Pharmaceutical manufacturers may promote over-the-counter medicines in the following countries only: Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States

Manufacturers who wish to promote their over-the-counter products can find more information and apply for certification on the Healthcare and medicines policy page.

Germany

We’ll begin to allow licensed pharmacies with a valid operating authorization and services that aggregate the inventory of local pharmacies to promote online pharmacy services via Google Ads. The Germany country specifics will be as follows:

Allowed with limitations Google allows the promotion of online pharmacies  (including pharmacies, medicine retailers, and pharmacy associations) that don't promote prescription drugs in their ads and landing pages under the following circumstances. Registered online medicine retailers (mail order pharmacies and other online medicine retailers registered by DIMDI) Licensed pharmacies with a valid operating authorization Pharmacy associations representing licensed pharmacies and/or mail order pharmacies and advertising on their behalf Advertisers must also be certified with Google. Russia

We’ll begin to allow licensed online pharmacies to promote their services via Google Ads. The Russia country specifics will be as follows:

Online pharmacies	Allowed with limitations Google allows the promotion of online pharmacies if they’re licensed by the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare (Roszdravnadzor) and have a permit for distant trade. All pharmacies must be licensed, regardless of whether they offer only non-prescription products. Advertisers must also be certified with Google. See how to apply.
