About AdMob bidding ad sources

Bidding ad sources compete in a real-time auction to fill your ad requests, which allows them to compete in a single, unified auction. This helps ensure you’re getting the highest revenue for your impressions.

Types of bidding ad sources

There are two types of bidding sources:

  • Bidding ad sources that require setup before you can use them. To use these ad sources, you must first set up a partnership and add the ad source to your AdMob account. Once you’ve added an ad source to your account, it will appear in the sidebar of your Ad source page. You may also have to integrate with their SDK and/or map your ad units. These ad sources must be added to a mediation group in order for them to bid on your inventory.

Learn more about the additional setup these ad sources require.

  • Bidding ad sources that don’t require setup. These ad sources are already included in your account and automatically bid for your inventory. These ad sources appear in the sidebar in the Ad source page before you’ve set up any other ad sources. You can also analyze the performance of these ad sources in your Ads Activity report. These ad sources are not added to mediation groups because they are included as part of the AdMob Network.

    • Some buyers in this category may also offer optional additional setup such as integration with their SDK and ad unit mapping. By default, these ad sources will bid automatically for your inventory. In addition to that, you can choose to complete the additional setup in mediation groups.

The bidding ad sources that don’t require additional setup are part of the AdMob Network. Previously, we did not list these ad sources separately. However, you can now view the ad sources that make up the AdMob Network in your Ad Sources page and in the Ads Activity report.
