Link your Google Analytics 4 properties to Ad Manager (Beta)

The Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property combines mobile app and website data for unified reporting and analysis. Reports for this property type use a single set of consistent metrics and dimensions plus flexible event management and cross-platform analysis to help you understand how people engage with your apps and websites.

Only mobile app data from GA4 properties will be visible in Ad Manager reporting.

To learn more about user engagement across your mobile apps using GA4 properties, complete the following tasks:

  1. Add the Firebase SDK to your app.
  2. Add your app to Firebase.
  3. Review the Google Analytics configuration instructions and confirm that you have both of the required permissions:
    1. Ad Manager“Administrator” permission
    2. Google Analytics: “Edit” permission
  4. Enable “Google Analytics 4 property Reports in Ad Manager reporting” in Ad Manager.
  5. Link to the GA4 property in Ad Manager.
  6. Run an Analytics report in Ad Manager to view your mobile app data.

Enable GA4 reporting in Google Ad Manager

Before you can use GA4 properties with Google Ad Manager, you need to enable the ability to link your accounts.

  1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
  2. Click Admin and then Global settings and then Network settings.
  3. In the "Report settings" section, enable Google Analytics 4 property Reports in Ad Manager reporting.
  4. Review the terms and conditions and click Confirm.
  5. Click Save.

Link your Ad Manager network to a GA4 property

Next, link your Ad Manager network to a GA4 property. This lets your Ad Manager network communicate with Google Analytics. By choosing to link to Google Analytics, you allow more of your Analytics data to be used by Ad Manager independent of your Firebase Data Sharing Settings.

You must have Edit (or higher) permission in the Google Analytics account and Administrator permission in the Google Ad Manager network to link the two accounts. A network administrator will be able to enable linking between Ad Manager and GA4 properties. All users who have reporting permissions will have access to the linked data in the "Analytics" report type.

If you don’t have a Firebase account, sign up for Firebase and add at least one app before completing these steps.

Complete the following steps to link your Ad Manager network to an existing GA4 property:

  1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
  2. Click Admin and then Linked accounts and then Google Analytics 4 property and Firebase.
  3. Click New Google Analytics 4 property link.
  4. Use the search bar to find the GA4 property you want to link to your Ad Manager network.
  5. Click Save. You can now run an Ad Manager Analytics report to view data for the GA4 property you linked.
