Distribute a Marketplace app to users

As an administrator, you can control which Google Workspace Marketplace apps are available to users in your company or school. You can make an app available to everyone or only to users in a particular department or team.

Step 1: Set the organizational structure

Skip this step if you want to make an app available to everyone in your organization.

To make an app available only to some users, first put their user accounts in an organizational unit or in an access group. Then, you can distribute the app only to those teams. For steps, visit:

Step 2: Make an app available to users

If an app is on your Google Workspace Marketplace allowlist, users can install it, even if you don’t provide access to the app with these steps. For details, see Manage Google Workspace Marketplace apps on your allowlist.

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. From the Admin console Home page, go to Appsand thenGoogle Workspace Marketplace apps.
  3. Click the app that you want to distribute.
  4. Click User Access.
  5. (Optional) To make the app available for everyone in your organization, select On for everyone and click Save.
  6. (Optional) To make the app available for users in an access group:
    1. On the left, click Groups
    2. Search for a group. 
    3. Check the On box and then click Save.
    4. Repeat for each group.
  7. (Optional) To make the app available for users in an organizational unit:
    1. On the left, click Organizational Units and select the organizational unit.
    2. Select On.
    3. Click Override to keep your setting if the distribution for the parent organizational unit is changed.
    4. If Overridden is already set for the organizational unit, choose an option:
      • Inherit—Reverts to the same setting as its parent.
      • Save—Saves your new setting (even if the parent setting changes).
    5. Repeat for each organizational unit.

Note: Changes might take up to 24 hours to propagate to all users.
