Shared YouTube TV memberships & family groups
Create a family group to share YouTube TV—as well as other Google apps and services—with up to 5 other people.
How family groups work on YouTube TV
- If you've purchased a YouTube TV membership, you can create a family group to share your membership with up to 5 people at no additional cost. When you create a family group, you become the family manager.
- As the family manager, you can invite family members (ages 13+) to join your family group.
- As a family group member, you can build your own personal library of content in YouTube TV. Your viewing preferences and DVR are all your own—we won't share your library or watch history with your family group.
- Sharing YouTube TV as part of a family group also lets you share other Google services with the same people. Learn more about family groups on Google.

- To join a family group, you must be over 13-years-old and have a Google account.
- You can access your own library, recordings, and personalized recommendations. Your viewing preferences are all your own—we won't share your library or watch history across accounts.
- You can only be part of one family group at a time. If you’re invited to a different family group (for YouTube TV or another Google product), you’ll have to leave your family group to change families.
- Google Apps for Business (G Suite) accounts are not eligible for family groups.
When you leave a family group, you'll keep your Google account but will lose access to YouTube TV. Your preferences will be saved in case you restart at a later date.
Leave your family group:
- Sign in to YouTube TV.
- Select your profile photo > Settings
> Family sharing
.
- Next to "Family sharing," select Manage.
- Select Leave your family group.
- Enter your password, then select Confirm. Your family manager will get an email notification that you've left the family group.
Note: If you leave your family group, you can accept an invitation to join a different family group or create your own group. However, you can only switch families once every 12 months. If you leave a family group and join a new one, you won't be able to join another family group for 12 months.
Locations & simultaneous streaming
Location requirements
Location requirements work the same if you're sharing your YouTube TV membership with a family group. The family manager sets the home area, and all family members must primarily live in the same household.
All family group members need to periodically use YouTube TV in your home location to keep access. If you don’t, the family manager will either have to change the family's home location or you'll need to get your own individual membership.
Note: If you're using YouTube TV while traveling, you'll get access to certain programs based on your location. Learn more about using YouTube TV while traveling.
