Add a branding watermark to videos

You can encourage viewers to subscribe to your channel by adding a branding watermark to your videos, often called a custom subscribe button. When you add a watermark, viewers can directly subscribe to your channel if they hover over the watermark when using YouTube on a computer.

Creator Studio Classic instructions

  1. Sign in to YouTube.
  2. Go to Creator Studio by clicking your profile picture and then Creator Studio.
  3. In the left menu, select Channel and then Branding.
  4. Click Add a watermark.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to add a channel branding element that will show in all your uploaded videos across devices.

Image guidelines

Images must be square, with a minimum of 150x150 pixels, and less than 1MB in size. We recommend that you use a transparent background rather than a solid one and include just one color in the image. This style of background can be less distracting, especially on small screens.

Availability

The channel watermark is available in landscape view on computers and mobile devices (not clickable on mobile). Channel watermarks do not show on custom YouTube chromeless players or Adobe Flash.

Branding watermark metrics

You can get metrics in the Annotations report in YouTube Analytics.
