Call someone

You can make domestic and international calls from your Google Voice number.

Important: Emergency calling is available only for Voice for G Suite accounts managed by your work or school.

To see information for a Voice for G Suite account managed by your work or school, sign in to your G Suite account.

  1. On your computer, go to voice.google.com.
  2. Open the tab for Calls Calls tab.
  3. At the top, click Make a call.
  4. Enter the name or phone number of the person you want to call.
    If the person is in your contacts, select them from the list that appears.
  5. Click Call.

Know how much a call costs

  • Almost all Google Voice calls to the U.S. and Canada are free when you're calling from the U.S.
  • Calls to a few places in the U.S. and Canada cost 1 cent per minute (USD), or the listed rate for your local currency 
  • Calls to places outside the U.S. are at listed rates

Domestic and international calls use minutes from your mobile service plan, and you might be charged long-distance rates. If you have a U.S. number and make a call in another country, you'll be charged international rates.

Check your balance
  1. On your computer, go to voice.google.com.
  2. At the top right, click Settings Settings.
  3. On the left, click Payments.
  4. Under Current balance, view your current balance.
Add money
  1. On your computer, go to voice.google.com.
  2. At the top right, click Settings Settings.
  3. On the left, click Payments.
  4. Next to Current balance, click Add credit.
  5. Select an amount to add, then click Add credit.
  6. Pay with your Google Account. You get an email to confirm your purchase.

If you're not sure how much credit to buy, you can find the calling rate for the number you want to call. Next to Calling rates, click Look up Look up, and then enter the country you want to call. Rates vary by country and are counted per minute.

Confirm that your paid call is using Google Voice

If your call isn't free, you’ll hear or see a message from Google Voice. The message will say how much the call costs or that the call is being routed through Voice.

If you don't get a message, your call isn't using Voice. Your carrier might charge you.

Check your Voice settings to verify a recent app update or another app hasn't changed your settings.
