Make a call with Google Voice

You can make domestic and international calls from your Google Voice number on desktop or mobile.

Call someone with Google Voice

Important:

  • To call someone from your computer, you must use one of these browsers:
    • Google Chrome
    • Mozilla Firefox
    • Microsoft Edge
    • Safari
  • You can’t make emergency calls with Google Voice. To make an emergency call, use your device’s phone app.
  1. Go to Google Voice.
  2. On the left, in the “Calls” tab, point to the name of a person in your recent calls list and click Call Calls.

Optional: You can also choose one of these methods in the Calls Calls, Messages Messages, or Voicemail Voicemail tabs:

  • If the person appears in your contacts list: On the right, click their name.
  • If the number you want to call is a saved contact: At the top, in the “Enter name or number” search bar, enter their name. In the list, click their name.
  • If the number you want to call isn’t a saved contact: Use the keypad to dial the number and then click Call Calls.

Tips:

  • To show the keypad, at the bottom right, click Show keypad.

Confirm your paid call uses Google Voice

If the call isn't free, Google Voice sends you a message. The message shows how much the call costs or that the call is being routed through Google Voice. Learn more about the cost of a Google Voice call.

If you don't get a message, your call doesn’t use Google Voice and your carrier can charge you.

Tip: Check that a recent app update didn't change your call settings.
